I don't think enough people realize that Sylvia is essentially the mother of the country music video. This was said to be the first concept video in the country music genre. We wouldn't have had TNN, CMT, or GAC as we know them without Sylvia. ...Does anybody know if the "Snapshot" video ever got played on MTV?

It was actually "The Matador", but this is one of the best videos ever....she was and is Perfection, my first fave ever.

I would agree that now Sylvia is largely forgotten but back then I wouldn't have called her underrated with all her hits and TV appearances....everything from Hee Haw to American Bandstand. Think her first album had 4 country hits

@@mikegarland9156 I agree with you somewhat, She did have a lot of hits, but I don't think RCA did enough to promote her

@@richardwhite2344 I agree. I never understood why Reba McEntire got promoted to superstardom by MCA, but RCA sort of left Sylvia to die on the vine. Sylvia was the whole package and then some. She should be as famous and rich as Reba is today!

I love Sylvia! When I was a teen, me and a few friends of mine modeled for a local department store in my town. We used to get sooo nervous! The photographers used to play a lot of pop music to calm me and the other girls down. We always asked if they would play Sylvia, Olivia Newton John and Sheena Easton. Great memories! Sylvia has the sweetest voice, and she is still such a pretty lady! Love her!
@extremeocd1184 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, you did mix pop with country if you were listening to Sylvia, Sheena Easten and Olivia Newton-John. I too loved these 3 classy ladies!! This takes me back to the 80's and can see where I was and what I was doing! So much happened including getting married in 1980, moving from Indiana back to Alabama in 1987, becoming a phlebotomist in that year and an on the job trainee for laboratory technician.....1987 was the last year to be "grandfathered" in and could work with a lab tech degree without ever having to attend college. It was the equivalent to doing clinicals. Oh my gosh, do I ever miss the 80's!!! I just lost my husband of 41 years to a massive heart attack. I'm sorry, I never had any intention of running off/rambling!!! Please forgive the "equivalent" of an old lady!! 😇 😇 😉 😉!!

Now this is what country music is supposed to sound like, not the shit they play today that they try to pass off as country. And it's also a shame th order to listen to real country music you have to get Willie's Roadhouse in order to do it as no country music station plays this type of country anymore, including songs like this.

He says he bought the new car strictly for business . New clothes to match the new smile on his face . New key must be to the office . Poor baby leaving early staying late he's got an alibi for every move he makes . He almost got away with it . But he'll get a big surprise when he gets home tonight . She took everything including the snapshot . That she had blown up to life size . I think that's funny as hell !

I want the original version -- not the rebloom. One of her albums was CALLED SNAPSHOT -- wasn't it? I swear I can find every other song except for the title song in original format. I also would like to buy Whip-poor-will but that was more obscure so I can understand why that one would be hard to find. Can anyone provide clues?

Ok, I see the issue. So they said ask the kids what happened. So there are two issues on the matter. The person that edited and the person that says he works with kids but does disruptive things through thee training and gaining favor of them. So I wrote a once upon a time story, some of it true that I observed and some of it had to be filled in; the more complex details. Then an editor helped me with the sentence structures, likee if it said the people saw, would that sound the same as once upon a time? The story was published in the newspaper with a main name and a second writer, which I thought Sylvia was a good name. I thought it was weird that people used and called psychics on the phone all the time, but knew I could use that network to get away. It was about war and what I had saw. I don't know the details of the matter; but they said I won a Murrow award for it. Because the topic was so intense they had to buffer thee after effects of the writing. This was the early or mid 80's. I don't know if it's true or not. Later because the type that said he works with kids really well, sensed secrecy and a matter; he tried to get Intel on whatever it was so he could participate, on the matter that I wrote a newspaper article about war and it was really good He wasn't needed on the matter and has an addiction to following success and trying to steal the image or success of a person's accomplishments.
