Totally underrated country singer. She deserved way more success than she achieved.
@kindspirit77 күн бұрын
Sure did. It is so weird how it goes in the entertainment industry. While I like Reba I do not see her being any of a better singer than Sylvia. While she has had astounding success(numerous albums, TV shows, and sell out concerts) Sylvia is I believe voice coaching and breeding horses in TN and rarely sings in public anymore. Last time I saw her was promoting her last children's album which had little success. It really does not make sense how she was dropped from record label in mid 80s.

I would not categorize this at all as country music. It is typical European disco pop of late 1970s and early 1980s. Melodic and catchy. A great version was recorded in German by Elke Best "Der Matador" that I bought once as a 45 rpm single. Great song and both versions are worth listening. Thanks for letting me find this 40 years later.

Liked Nobody but too bad it was so big. She just kept looking for another one instead of staying with what made her famous in the first place. First time I heard this song it became one of my favorites. Couldn't wait for the lp to come out, I had to buy the 45. Bobby's in Vicksburg is another of my favorites.

I have fond memories of my mom listening to 1050 WHN in the car, and I loved when this song came on. It felt so dramatic and fun. Finding this video is a real treat for me. The song is still great!

He was way too big and manly looking to be a bigger star. He’s not feminine. I’d rather see a biological female rather than a biological male rise as a successful singer. He can’t help but move like a big clunky dude. Because he’s a big clunky dude.

I don't think enough people realize that Sylvia is essentially the mother of the country music video. This was said to be the first concept video in the country music genre. We wouldn't have had TNN, CMT, or GAC as we know them without Sylvia. ...Does anybody know if the "Snapshot" video ever got played on MTV?
