I have to say the Rhodia paper is gloooorious to write on. So amazingly smooth. Particularly with a fountain pen.

Thank you so much for this video! I currently use a plain A5 dotted grid notebook and am considering the Hobonichi Day-Free for next year but from this video I think I'm leaning against the Hobonichi as I do a lot of memory planning and stick ephemera and photos in my journal! And you are right, it would be better to have a thicker paper. Thanks for the insights!

Just a suggestion, but you could pair one Day Free with a Hobonichi Plain Notebook, as mentioned on the website, to increase your notes pages without duplicating the calendar pages by buying multiple Day Free books. Hope that made sense. :-) They have a drawing of this scenario using a cover with the day free tucked in the front flap and the plain notebook in the back flap. Love your videos btw! Off to finish the video...

Thanks for sharing and as always I enjoy your channel and reviews, updates and works in progress. As a planner person i like to try new things and make changes all the time. The planner peace comes when i try new things and learn more ways to plan, draw, write or doodle...

i could never fit anything in those little monthly boxes, but maybe using them as a calendex type system

I purchased the A6 day free this year, I knew there wasn’t enough pages for the year so I ordered the Nanami A6 cafe to sub with it. I’m usually a stalogy person. But I was in it for over 3 years and needed a change. So I know I can always go back to stalogy if needed. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe.

I LOVE the day free!!! I use it as A6 and A5! I use the A5 as a work out journal and a reading journal. The a6 I use for my tv show watching journal and a KZbin watching journal;) these are super fun for dedicating to one subject;) as opposed to a bullet journal because I can make this last all year in one book and it’s been a great system for me;)

Thanks for the thorough comparison Sylvia, great video as always! 😊 Just wanted to mention that last year there was no Day-free with a spring start. And like the calendar year-versions, the monthly pages in a Spring start-Hobonichi A6 or Cousin begin in March while the actual daily pages start in April.

I ended up buying two of the A6 Day-Free for the next year. It's a little pricey to do it that way but I want to make sure I have enough pages for the full year. Mine will end up being my work planner, so mostly to-do lists and notes.

I’ve been wondering how it compares to the Midori MD Diary. Thanks for this review!

This was helpful 😊. I stiillll haven’t ordered, cuz I’m still fighting that FOMO! Do I go back to Hobonichi or try the Stalogy that everyone is using 😅?!. I have the Ryder Carol set with the L(note book that I can’t spell😂!). Did I use it, nope. I really need to try it😳! I have various other notebooks that I can use. But I know for sure I want a Weeks😊! Looking forward to seeing the next comparison video🤗! Thank you for sharing, take care 💗🤗!

They also have a plain notebook with the same paper so you can have the blank pages without wasting the calendars if you need more than one book.

Hi, Sylvia!! :D Thank you so much for doing another video for the comparisons and answering my question! I'm still considering making the Day-Free my content planner since I will probably do monthly plans and weekly spreads. I saw someone else suggest using one of the Hobonichi notebooks with it for extra pages, and I think that's a great idea if I go this route, that way the monthly pages don't need to be repeated. But your video definitely helped put this in perspective for me! Also, thank you for using my pronouns

Yes, I thought that was a great idea! I really like having the months with the notebook though 😂 Yes, if I have a brain fart I apologize, but I know who you are 🤗❤️

I have been wanting to jump on the Hobonichi bandwagon foreverrrr but I really can't justify the price tag along with shipping and accessories. Especially since I have been on a college student budge for so long, looking at their prices makes me cringe! However, I do drool over the Mina Perhonen covers and I think I'd just buy it by itself in the future for my Midori A5! But with your review, it helped a lot to justify that it's not for me: pages are too thin for memory keeping like you mentioned, I prefer Sunday start, and there were some extra pages in the Hobo that I don't think I will need. I also wished the Hobos were in English too; I know their original one is but I really want to try the Day free so I don't feel restricted. I don't see the value of using a notebook that has Japanese script when I can't understand it. I appreciate Japanese culture and everything, but I'd like to at least understand what is on these pages that I paid for, lol. Thanks for your review! It was so helpful! Also, great Lisa Frank composition notebook! Good times ^_^

You should look at other videos (those that have used the Hobonichi longer). Many people use the Hobonichi for junk journaling/memory keeping and they hold up. I have use watercolor and collaged in mine. Its very fountain pen friendly.

I’m glad it helped! Good luck with school. Stay safe 😊 Maybe a travel’s notebook would better suit you? You can make your own inserts and junk journal?

You can purchase some of the hobonichi line up from www.jetpens.com. I love buying from there and you can get free shipping with a min order.

which would be the best for journaling or drawing and doing art on (the day free or cousin)

I’m not an artist, but it’s the same paper. I’d say it depends if you want dates to draw every day. If not, go with the days free!

The cousin avec is half year ... hth
@tdslovey4 жыл бұрын
Why not make the day free a full year size like the cousin or original techo? They just want you to buy 2 or more. I bought 1 A6 for 2021, then I plan to just switch to my midori, stalogy or cafe notes for the rest of the year.

Sorry for budging in but I believe they sell the Avec versions better than the original Cousin. Just my impression from watching Hobonichi KZbin for the past years. Buying the plain notebooks for additional pages is also way cheaper than ordering a second Day-free.
