You can give them foods but not money because when they see one of them being given by someone, everyone else flocks. Sometimes, even their parents are the one asking them to ask for money from people (limos) but it's the parents who uses them (and sometimes, for gambling)

That children is Bajao, its already ther tradition asking money in the streets of Cebu.. eventhough the government already helped ther community they will still going back in the streets.. its a sad tradition. They are not from Cebu, originally they are from the Western part of Mindanao. As much as possible dont give them money to stop the tradition.

I used to live in this city (in Guadalupe) with my family. Dealing with the heat in the mid-afternoon is like walking into a sauna. Lots of people and traffic is almost out of control. Profusely sweating all the time, so I learned to do my errands and business early in the morning or late afternoon. But I still love this city and the people, they persevere to work hard and do everything with a smile.

It was actually already banned in Cebu to give alms to streetchildren and/or beggars, but because the law is not so strict, there's still plenty of them around harassing ppl. But when it was first enforced, the streets were really free of them. Sadly, they're back again now. It's usually a common problem when it comes to big cities, aside from theft,etc.. 😮‍💨

The sad truth most of these children resorts to begging as a means of survival. And some street beggars still continue to have children bc they lack knowledge and limited access to healthcare and family planning. You were probably shocked but it's normal here.😔 Anyways next time hold ur belongings tightly.

When you see beggars dont give them money, even if its just coins. You can give food(even if its left over) or anything just not money. Its not good for them, youll never know what they will do with those money. The reason why they kept coming to you is because you gave them money, they will see their friends and say “that person gave me money”. It might be hard to shoo them away but just ignore them. To those family whos sleeping outside, the basic reason is they dont have money so they dont have place to stay. The annoying part is poor people kept having kids when theyre not capable of raising them and so youll see kids begging for money.

A lot ofthe child beggars are run by syndicates and are organized. They're coached on how to beg, how to look pathetic and pitiable. Afew of them would scoffat being given food and would prefer money instead because they have a quota. I stopped giving food when one time one said 'kwarta lang'.
