I love symbiosis. It’s like finding a friendly player in a survival video game and working together to survive. It’s just crazy that this amount of trust between creatures can be found in actual wild/ocean

I saw a rather cute video about the shrimp and the gobbi's relationship. the shrimp has a long antenna that it uses to keep in constant contact with the gobbyi. One time a little altercation happened between the gobbi another gobbi and the shrimp lost contact with it and ended up far from their hole. Shrimp have very poor eyesight so it didnt know where it was or how to get back to their hole. Within a couple mins the gobbi noticed it was having trouble finding its way back to the hole so it swam over and grabbed the poor lost little shrimp and brought it back home!! lol I thought it was rather sweet, cuz the shrimps are afraid when they are out of their hole as thats when something will eat it!

Amazing footage of the hermit crab. How could you find one that had to move to a new shell? Was it shot in an aquarium or in the ocean?
@BlueWorldTV7 жыл бұрын
It was shot in the ocean. We presented hermit crabs with a new shell. It took over 50 tries on 30 dives to finally find one that was interested.

Hi Jonathan! In Oslob, Cebu City in the Philippines, there's a feeding ground for about a dozen or more whale sharks. Although I do think it's pretty weird that they're there almost all year round. That's what I've been told at least. They're all very dear to the locals though and each one of them have been named. Anyway! I love your content and I want to be certified very soon! Keep doin what you're doin!

Jonathan I have a question. I saw on one of my homework assignments for English class that symbiotic species can not live without each other. I don’t think this is correct. For example, the symbiotic relationship of the remora and the shark/turtle/ray/whale. The remora might not be able to live without the shark/turtle/ray/whale, but the shark/turtle/ray/whale could live without the remora. So is what the worksheet says true, or do I have to tell my teacher that the worksheet is providing false information?
@BlueWorldTV6 жыл бұрын
The problem is that there are different kinds of symbiosis. Parasitism is one type. And a host can definitely live without a parasite. In the case of mutualistic symbiosis (i.e. "Mutualism") it may be true that the two organisms cannot live without each other, but I think that is a gross generalization.
@blue_jai27906 жыл бұрын
BlueWorldTV So I do have to tell my teacher that the worksheet is wrong. Heheheh yay!
