So proud that I first hear this work right here. You have carried the fire with class and verve. FYI I've read that material for this came from S's work on newsreel soundtracks, and that his first impressions of NYC were the inspiration - not to mention constant requests that he do something having the power of The Rite Of Spring.

Great interpretation .... wonderful tone and articulation. When first hearing this piece I always thought it would make for a great movie introduction.

This has only 12K views?! Where are the music lovers of this world?😢😢😢 Maybe you don't know: you have to play it all the way through for the view to count. No dipping here and there.

A powerful score with exhilarating music. Among many outstanding moments, I love the jazzy piano in the first movement and the explosive final chord.

I was born in the year that this work was first performed. I enjoy the rhythmic verve of this music. A fav of mine.

Most enjoyable rendition. The conducting, particularly in the staccato sections, made good viewing, too.

I was born in the year this work was composed. When hearing it for the first time in the 1960s, I thought it very 'modern', but I still like it, as I do now I particularly like the first movement - and those nerve- tingling percussive chords on the piano.

Me too. Wikipedia says it was composed over the period of 1943 to 1945. And first performed by the Orchestra that commissioned it, The New York Philharmonic, on January 24, 1946, with Stravinsky conducting. Stravinsky was wary of "external" associations with his music, but was not shy about this music referencing World War II events like the Liberation of Paris, in August, 1944 (The jubilant last movement). Even so, the music isn't really meant to be pictographic, like say, Beethoven's 6th Symphony, the Pastoral.

I concur. Though ignorant of the academic dynamics of western music, I was blessed to have parents who exposed me to a vast wealth of musical gendres. Between Fancy, Free, El Salon Mexico, the Jitterbug Waltz, Night on Tunisia, Perez Prado's Voodoo Suite, Pyr Gynt and a whole lot more, I seem awash in this music!

The concert hall seemed virtually empty. I don't understand it. This is a very interesting piece of music, actually a classical symphony. The first movement is in sonata form. Well performed.

Very nice performance, sound could be better - autogain smashes the dynamics.
