This was emotional scene with Thomas explaining to officer Washington his Mother's life and the memories she left behind, but the scene where the Kid finds the Stamps on his doorstep as a now late 30 something, married man with a toddler daughter and is beyond overjoyed and ecstatic to have found them again after 34 years, just gets to me. I mean, Milo died TRYING to right a wrong. He was so guilt ridden and hurt when the kid told him that not only was it wrong for Milo to burgularize his Family's house, he told him those Stamps were my Family heirloom, and that they really meant so much to him because his late Grandfather gave them to him. Milo was haunted from this for 34 years. All he wanted was the kid to forgive him. Before he's sent off to Heaven on the Bus, Milo asks Thomas "Do you think the Kid forgave me?".

Nowadays, movies are, for one thing, so obviously about forcing 1:1 equality (if not bolstering minorities to surpass the equality line), and pretending racism is such a mass problem that needs talked about 24/7...as if it can ever be fully fixed (the core issue is one of the human condition, which is flawed). Where’s the focus in modern movies on the essence that people of all colors share? Humans of all races and backgrounds all care about the same thing... (We are *FAR* more the same than we are different, make no mistake about it.) This movie, as an example, hits on that ?346 mark, all the way clear back in 1993. Think about that. This movie’s simply perfect, in all the ways.

One of the loveliest scenes in the film. I saw this in the theater, and the little gasp from Alfre Woodard at 1:56 eked a collective gasp and multiple sniffles from the audience. Who would've thought a small little fantasy-comedy-drama would contain so much poignancy and powerful theater from its then-unknown ensemble of Sizemore, Grodin, Sedgwick and Woodard? Singularly gorgeous.

Billy grew up with Resentment and Grief over not being told what happened to his Mother and how she perished. When Thomas has to elaborate to Officer Billy Washington where his Siblings went and how much Penny loved her little son, it brought pain into his heart. That bitterness and grief. But Penny was so overjoyed to know that all of her children were alright and to learn that her Billy had gotten married, had a daughter of his own and was now a Deputy Sheriff, that she realized that she could rest in peace. Milo Died with Remorse and Guilt. He was a Petty Cat Burglar. But he had a GOOD heart and tried to take back stealing those Heirloom Stamps after he realized how much they really meant to that little boy. when the boy told him "You Stink Mister" It broke Milo's heart. Milo was literally haunted for 33 years by what he had done and felt that the only way he could have peace and go on to Heaven. You can see the ELATION and joy Milo had when they recovered the Stamps and he discovered in 1992 that the little boy had grown up, and was now a Husband and Father, The Now Middle Aged Father got the shock of his life that he had been waiting for since '59: The Stamps had been returned mysteriously. Milo realized he didn't need to personally apologize to the kid(Its something that he felt like he SHOULD have done this whole time), but that the Kid eventually grew up and FORGAVE him for stealing the Stamps because he got older realizing that Milo TRIED To take it back and return them. That's why he was so Overjoyed to see the Stamps returned mysteriously. Harrison was straightforward. To Quote Thomas: "You died of Failure because you never tried". He had Stage fright. That's it. Julia's was the most heartbreaking. She LOVED John dearly and was beyond STUNNED when he had proposed to her and asked her to marry him. She had just gotten Cold Feet. She didn't know how to react. She felt Angry because all she did was just try to think it over and make her decision "YES. I'll marry you John" and died before she got a chance to give him her decision. The Resolution was absolutely tragic for her. Because she learned just how much her untimely demise had haunted and destroyed John. He Was so HEARTBROKEN and Grief Stricken that he NEVER married, Never had any kids, and that he had dedicated 26 years of his life to the Farm Land he had purchased. Hiring friends and Farmhands to help tend it. He Mourned Julia for a Quarter of a Century never able to get over her because he loved her so much, before dying of Cancer likely in his 50s in 1985 and leaving the Farm Land to one of his most trusted Ranchers in his Will. Julia didn't even get a Happy Ending. It was WORSE for her than she thought. Her heart was now broken, too. That's why Thomas was so upset and angry. Julia then decided to tell Thomas that She maid a foolish decision that ruined her and John's life,Love and Future together that haunted the both of them. She realized that she should have been bold enough to say "YES" right from the get go and told Thomas: "Don't let Ellen get away like I let John get away. Don't make the Same Mistake, I did."
