You have to admire the man.At least for his numerous legacies. Guess much of his political sagacity is largely missed in mainstream political literature because he never quite captured the center. All in all, he was a true leader. Chief Awolowo lived a life. And a political one indeed. RIP

Please how did you arrive at this subjective comment: greatest leader the world has ever seen? If you sample 1000 randomly selected Nigerians, what percentage do you think will agree with you?

@@ukoparah I think I have answered you properly in my response to your other comment or question but let me say this: for enlightened Nigerians in this field, free of all sentiments will agree that he is great!

This was the man that started tribalism in Nigeria...This was the man that introduced starvation as a weapon of war against the Igbos during the civil war...This was the man that gave Igbos £20 notes after the war irrespective of the amount an average Igbo person had in the bank before the war...This was the man that betrayed Ojukwu during the war due to his ambition to be the president of Nigeria but was finally used and dumped by the Hausa Fulani....

I have made up my mind to answer any idiotic Igbo comments I see, about especially this greatest man in Nigerian history. I will always give it back to them. False accusation: You lie on him that he started tribalism but he went to tell Nnamdi Azikiwe that they should form a coalition in 1959 saying that Nnamdi Azikiwe should be the Prime Minister and Nnamdi Azikiwe turned it down. The Blockade: The starvation was done by the armies of Biafra who were hijacking the food meant for civilians. Then the food will be taken to the soldiers to feed them, while innocent civilians suffer, so the Nigerian government needed to impose a blockade. The blockade was introduced in 1969 even then when the blockade were to be lifted, Ojukwu refused except it be on his own terms. Note that non of the military officers like Ojukwu and Philip Effiong looked starved after the war. Just look at Philip Effiong and the other Biafran soldiers when Obasanjo brought them to surrender to Gowon in Lagos, they were all looking well fed and robust! The 20 Pounds policy: Oh Nigeria should have gathered all the money in the world and given it to Igbos right? Nigeria had just finished an almost 3 year war, we should even thank God that Obafemi Awolowo managed the finances of the country so well that we didn't borrow to prosecute the war and we didn't go bankrupt or into recession. Igbos that could present their bank statements were given their money back, those that couldn't, were given 20 pounds. Many didn't even have money in the bank in fact. Note: 20 pounds then is not what it is today; far more value, correct me if I'm wrong. The most stupid lie of all: He betrayed Ojukwu, ridiculous! Even Ojukwu can't dare open his mouth and say Obafemi Awolowo betrayed him. Very stupid lie, the most stupid after the one they claim that Ojukwu released Awolowo from prison.

@@oluyomielegbede2283 You just spewed gibberish...I stopped reading when i saw igbotic comment in your comment..You just assumed that i am Igbo because i spoke the truth, right? Your comment smells hatred and envy that's ingrained in you towards Igbo race..Don't be biased and sentimental,Say the truth and shame the devil... Awolowo started tribal politics in Nigeria and Zik also participated in it too.Anyway, how old are you?..Thanks

@@jimmyjimmy6315 first of all, no apologies...I never said you're Igbo but you have spewed the exact idiotic comments they spew, so whether you're Igbo or not you've definitely been indoctrinated by their lies and you have become a fellow purveyor, hook, line and sinker of those lies! Awolowo never started tribalism, he spoke on principles doesn't mean he started tribalism...Zik was tribal with his west african pilot in the 1940s.

@@oluyomielegbede2283 Like i said previously,Awolowo started tribalism in Nigeria politics and Yoruba people are tribalistic now more than any other tribe in Nigeria..No doubt Zik participated in tribal politics, infact Zik brought in tribal politics down to old Eastern Nigeria when he removed Prof Eyo Ita,an efik man from Calabar out of office in Enugu and put his own Igbo cabinet..Let's call a spade a spade.. It's high time we start telling ourselves the truth...
