This interview should have been allotted more time coz of the caliber and personality on the sit, despite the lil’ time the interviewer didn’t allow Mama to express her thought, this are people we are supposed to be listening to & celebrating.

He did a good job. He was professional about it. When interviwing an aged individual, you must take note of the individual's health physicallyand mentally. He didn't want her to raise her blood pressure as a result of the journey down the memory lane. Also think about the time limit and the need to cover those areas they chatted about. As a matter of fact, we are proud to have Mama accomplishing all that she did as a Nigerian. I hope this enlightens us all.

If Awolowo was president the Yorubas would have benefited enormously. Most people don't realize that the preponderance of Yorubas as University professors stems directly from when Awolowo was minister for Education and gave numerous scholarships to overseas institutions to predominantly western Nigerians.
@ukoparah2 жыл бұрын
Awo was never minister of education.
@ayenia27367 ай бұрын
before Awolowo was ever a minister, yorubas had been all out about education. Awolowo only gave yorubas education ONLY from the revenue from proceed of cocoa as a region while other regions also used their own resources. During that free education , most igbos who were highly educated today, got that education freely from the free general education of the western region because there was not discrimination of a tribe so long you lived in western region then. The northerners also used the proceed of groundnuts and other crops from their region to build the universities and finance projects then. Only Zik was the premier of no ideas on how to govern his region and did nothing. So, Awolowo did not make education free for the west as a minister, but as a premier and head of the west. Stop fake narratives. My late uncle was in that government and he narrated everything to us with evidences. Even, the personal secretary of Chief Awolowo was an igbo man, and all of them were treated equally as yorubas once the live here. Ask Zik what he spent the resounces of the easterners on at that time because east has vast of resources then, but he could not even sponsor a free primary education for a few months. He tried it and failed.

The current politicians are their selling most Nigeria infrastructures to themselves and their friends. Chief Awolowo focus mainly on education and development while the current politicians focus mainly on corruption and economy derailment. Most of the current politicians benefited from the education system from Awolowo regime as a western region premier leader. Now the education in Nigeria have been derailed because most of the corrupt elites including churches are benefitting from private schools which ordinary citizens cannot afford. Nigeria who have we offended to be so hostile to one another. Politicians are buying houses in the Uk, USA and also in Dubai worth millions empty with the money meant for Nigerians while their citizens are living in poverty.

False narrative. Awolowo was not from Royal family...neither were the Ransom Kutis etc. However, Odumegwu Ojukwu, the one and only generally accepted leader of the Igbos was born privileged, educated privileged and lead his people through his privileged background...Rich man pikin...Pure butter.

Her brother fought for the Biafrans an Ijebu indigene, He was killed for his support for the Igbos. I believe Nigeria needs to be divided for better development and infrastructure. The British government are part of the reason why Chief Awolowo never become the President of Nigeria. This is why the country still backwards in so many things Awolowo was able to do within few years of western region leader. Tinubu is basically a slave to the Fulani men and he’s definitely cannot reach the level of Chief Awolowo.

Yes tribalism and sectionalism much better than the so called nationalism of Zik that the North trampled upon using their ethic group in the military to perpetrate genocide against the Igbos and destroy our foundation for 40 years running even till now. What has that Zik One Nigeria profited the Igbos or the Nigeria state, failure and absolute failure!!! Awo had to put is people first because it was the right thing to do, we are all different in culture, religion, language etc. I am Yoruba man first b4 i am a Nigerian. The same Awo's ideology is what Biafra and the Middle belt and the Yoruba nation agitators are now earnestly clamouring for today isn't it?

@@vicbade9702 you can write a Bible if you like. I said what I said and I stand by it. He the Great grand father of Tribalism, Sectionalism, Nepotism and Bigotry. But guess what I voted for UPN, his party in the Second Republic. I did that because of his party manifesto. Now who told Gowon to blockade Biafra, "AWO " did, starve them of Salt,and that led to Kwashiokor " Malnutrition. Who was the Finance. Minister that Advised the Federal government to give Igbos only, £20, out of their life savings, AWO did. I witnessed biafra and Nigeria war,I was 3,years old when we left lagos to go back to the theatre 🎥 of war. Lagos born and bred. Truth is bitter, not only AWO that is a Tribalistc the whole Afonja and yorubas all over the world are Tribalistc in nature. Even here in London. Even if someone is the worst candidate for any job, yoruba will say, " Tiwa ni eje ose " meaning he's ours let him do it. Get it into your Skull, AWO is Dead. Simple. " ema ro " don't think about it. @@caniceosuagwu2580 well what I know now is that sectionalism and looking after once own people and region is the best for Nigeria. What has Zik nationalistic view done for the Igbos? If Awo did not advice Gowan as you said ofcuase someone else will do so. It was war time each side must fight to win a war. There is nothing wrong to want to look after your own kind. If you call it tribalism so be it. If Awo policy or manifesto were bad you would not have voted for UPN in the 2nd Republic as you claim. Isn't it?

tell me anything truly nationalistic about Zik? The guy who voted against the possibility of national ethnic groups to freely discuss their existence and iron out their differences without intimidation in case the union did not work? The tribe which as a military head abolished a divisibility and ability to negotiate existence in case of irresolvable differences? Same tribe wanted to forceful break away just 7 years immediately their crooked decrees of 'one nigeria without any chance of negotiation ' whenever there is problem worked against them? Is that nationalism or idiotic sense of thinking igbos would be in power forever against other tribe? PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID AS YOU ASSUME. Mention any country going into independence in multi-ethnic setting with that kind of 'no negotiation nor divisibility under whatever circumstances'?. Stop deceiving yourselves, the dubious story is long busted
