SYND 18 7 78 CAMBODIAN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER HOLDS PRESS CONFERENCE IN BANKOK

(17 Jul 1978) The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Leng Sary, has told a press conference in Bangkok that his country's forces have beaten back an attack by Vietnamese troops. He told the press conference that earlier unconfirmed reports referring to a whole sale invasion by Vietnamese troops into Cambodia were pefectly true. The reports suggested that up to 80,000 Vietnamese troops went across the border into Cambodia but mr Sary denied that the number of Vietnamese was so high
