hi tom, loving the vids! i would'nt replace the gates if i were you, had customers previously who have had similar issues, however, i think the weathered cedar looks great once its been sanded and refinished! the flaking is caused by previous treatment/sealent, if you do decide to refinish the gates make sure whatever finish you apply is UV resistant

I'd recommend a sliding gate if you are replacing it. It could slide along the fence line towards the smaller walkway gate and tree stump. Would stop the issues with wind and would be out of the way if the driveway is flattened out.
