You’ve all heard of The Vault Dweller, the man sent into the wasteland in search of a water chip, and through doing so, changed the world. But what exactly did he go through? If not for The Vault Dwellers' Memoirs we wouldn’t know and the many stories from those he met would have no doubt been embellished and clouded the truth, fortunately we don’t have to think about that and can instead read what he wanted us to know.

Considering the state of the world by the time of fallout 1, the idea that someone eventually reached the level of personal stability to take time to write their memoirs is a huge step towards winning back civilization for the fallout setting.

I have to say the main two characters that have the saddest endings to a story is “the vault dweller” and “the sole survivor”. The vault dweller is rejected by the overseer after all the heroic deeds he’s done. he’s forced to leave his home. The sole survivor loses everything from his past, including his family. At least there’s a silver lining for both. The vault dweller and the sole Survivor have a new family in the wasteland.
@Edithae
@Edithae Жыл бұрын
The vault dwellers fate isn't so bad. Half the population of the vault desert the Vault in protest of his exile and join him in the wasteland where they found the tribal village of Arroyo. The vault Dweller marries one and starts a family. The Sole Survivor has it much worse.

@@Edithae oh yeah that’s a fact. Both characters have the same fate in a way. The silver lining. But still the biggest tragedy is that both characters have to give up air conditioning, clean toilets, and clean showers lol 😂.
@Edithae
@Edithae Жыл бұрын
@@Steel-101 No they literally don't share the same fate. The Vault Dweller does not lose his family, and is not left alone. In fact he inspires his fellow Vault Dwellers to join him, and he literally founds a tribe. The Sole Survivor is essentially kidnapped and frozen for 200 years until everybody he knows is long gone, his wife is murdered in front of him and he misses his son's entire life, only reuniting at his son's death bed. But hey, he gets a new dog (to replace the one he lost 200 years ago), a schizo robot sidekick and an obnoxious American Revolutionary LARPER for company I guess... I know which one I'd prefer to be.
@Steel-101
@Steel-101 Жыл бұрын
@@Edithae I said “in a way”. They are a bit similar when it comes to rebuilding a new family. That’s what I mean. Both endings for these characters are bitter sweet. Plus they both come from comfortable backgrounds but have to adjust to a very rough lifestyle in the wasteland.

My favorite aspect of the vault dwellers is how they are lulled/brainwashed into a false sense of security. Their vault could be surrounded by death claws that could easily break the walls (many vaults are placed in open caves) and they have no clue. And if a threat comes, they are totally unprepared, because they have absolutely no information about what goes on outside. Totally isolated. If I lived in a vault, it would drive me insane. I would constantly listen for clicks and bangs, or anything out of the ordinary

No vault resident main character in any Fallout game can ever go back. Vault Dweller gets exiled for saving Vault 13, but the Lone Wanderer also was exiled from Vault 101 for saving it. Amata even says something similar to the Vault 13 Overseer. Nate/Nora (Sole Survivor) can go back to Vault 111 anytime they want. But everybody else from that Vault is dead, including their spouse. & the 76 vault dweller literally gets locked out of the vault along with all the other residents.

My brothers played the OGs when I was a young. The whole world was beyond me then. Looking back on the lore stuff now it's very understanding why Bethesda was excited to pick up the IP and put their twist on things. It brought the story and world of fall out back to the forefront of a whole new generation of gamers who tried it out. But some things in the original will always just hit different and the Master's dialogue has to be up there as one of if not the best writing in the entire series proper. Pretty impressive feat from a fairly old game at this point.

Seeing the clip of the Vault being invaded by super mutants is just as terrifying as when I first saw it when the game first came out. Just imagine being a Vault Dweller, knowing only the Vault your entire life and these monstrosities just cleave their way into your home. You have no way of retreating as the only way out is blocked by the mutants so your once-safe sanctuary ironically becomes a tomb.

New Vegas was pretty awesome, it felt closer to the Classic Fallout games more than Fallout 3 and 4 did. Makes sense considering that Obsidian has devs that worked on the original Fallout games - they clearly know their stuff. Though personally I love Fallout 3 too because it was my first Fallout game so it's probably nostalgia. Fallout 4 on the other hand felt cartoonish and bright, it didn't feel as dark, gritty and dirty as the previous games so I was a little disappointed in that one, it also didn't feel immersive - it's an OK game.

It would certainly be interesting wouldn’t it? Unfortunately, there’s not likely to ever be any “canon”, (and I use that term in the loosest possible way) integration of the other countries of the world; outside very deliberately crafted NPCs and sloppily written notes or holos. If fan created content was respected by the IP Overlords, then maybe we could get an insight into Europe, the M.E, and the Far East; but Bethesda seems to have gone the Disney route and said “my way or the highway”.

It was a long road full of death and pain my dweller spent his years traveling with dog meat until he met his significant other then he and the meat of dog settled down and protected their tribe he never forgot his friend Allen who taught him that the blue barrier at the bases was not a good thing to touch because they hurt a lot

He was the most important besides the Carrier and chosen one he saved the ncrs leader stopped the master and helped the brotherhood of steel without him we would not have the ncr Hoover dam would have been taken by the legion and supermutents would rule the world he was the strongest smartest and most impactful protagonist fallout has seen

@@Nomadgammer Not to mention other characters had experience in wasteland and some support to help them outside however Vault dweller was just sent there with no support and no supplies also little experience too at young age with a mission that might even be a failure right from beginning.

We need a new game that takes place around a big city that got nuked hard. Like NYC or LA. It would be nice to explore something that isn’t just empty wasteland.
