The Vegetation on the back of the turtle depends on how many rare flowers/mushrooms and seeds are in its inventory. It took my turtle 5 days to grow the full bushes. The mushrooms are still growing tho

I think the reason the swarm dissappeared is that when you tame the turtles with them saberteeth salmon will spawn and slowly start eating away at the swarm

this 100%. Sabertooth salmon spawn in waves and eat the swarm, degrading their health. we tamed a 280(20x taming) using a 110 swarm in about 50 mins or an hour. you just have to constantly protect it from the salmon. the bloodstalker would probably be good at grabbing and killing them.

Based on what I've seen there are two methods of taming a turtle. You can use the normal trap method with the swarm, but it's tedious. The second alternative is to knock it out with shocking tranq darts and feed it veggie cakes or honey .

Hey Syntac, catching up on the series right now, but in order to tame the turtle efficiently you can't trap it, trapping it causes the swarm to decay on top of needing to look out for sabertooth salmon or rarely Coalecanth that try to eat it, you only need one swarm when you do it without trapping, just rememebr to guard the turtle while it tames.

Syn, the turtle is based off of a mid century myth (or I think it is) where sailors would set fires on the turtles shell. When these unlucky souls would light a fire the turtle would go under water to stop the fire and killing the sailors in the process by drowning them along as their ships that would be tied the the rocks and trees attached and growning on the giant turtles shell.

Just to give a tip, the swarms of fish spawn actual fish that eat then and do way more damage than the actual turtle. If you kill those when they spawn the swarms last about 3.5 times as long

The plants on its back are based on the number of rare flowers and rare mushrooms in its inventory. You have to wait for them to produce enough but it takes a LONG time in my experience. Havent tested but putting in rare flowers and mushrooms from another source might work.

I accidentally tamed 2 of these by unintentionally leading a swarm over and then swimming out of render and I didnt even know until I saw one of them while swimming around. And they changed ps4 mission timers and now ours are extremely hard if even possible.

I think I had a good method. #1 Find one in a relative safe area and kill everything around it. #2 Whip out an Ichtyosaurus and lure the microbes in. #3 Keep an eye out for Salmon or Coel that want to eat the school of fish. You may not 1 shot a big Salmon luckily they are slow and an Ichtyosaurus has a very low AOE with its puny bite. A few times I was afraid to have hit my turtle, luckily I didn't, also didn't get bothered by anything except the Salmon or Coel trying to eat it since I killed them all before hand.

You could save yourself a ton of trouble and attack an ammonite. They give you a spray of something that acts like rare flower and attracts a “microbe swarm”. That’s the turtle’s food. So, just attack the ammonite, the swarm finds you, then lead it away. I named my turtle “Morla the Ancient One” from The Neverending Story.

What happened was that a Sabertooth Salmon ate all the Microbes hehehe. You couldn’t see it because your Megachelon was in a tight cage, but when the taming process is active for these bigbois, a Sabertooth Salmon spawns ever so often, and starts eating the Microbes. That is why taming in a cage is more difficult than in open water. I tamed a 145 and a 135 in open water, solo, before the patch and it was easy in open water with a Tek Rifle from the “Hunt Giga” mission in Lunar Biome 😃

Only one swarm is needed to tame the turtle. Salmon and Coelacanth will spawn in very near the swarm once it is attached to the turtle, and you must kill those fish to keep the swarm health up. The turtle does not attack the swarm. While still no fun solo, it is much less painstaking if you can keep the swarm safe.

Idk if it’s fixed or whatnot but if you take your dinos to the gauntlet missions, when you start it, it’ll turn all your dinos into cryopods and put them in the mission inventory thing. And you get to keep the cryopods even after releasing your dinos. But I did this early on and haven’t tried it since.

Figured out a decently easy way to tame a giant turtle! Tame two decent Basil's, breed them to get an imprinted one. Use imprinted one as your mount for killing everything near by the turtle. Don't use ghillie (I go naked anyway lol) and go find a swarm. If Basil is a little on a fast side, have flippers and you can out swim the swarm. Bring swarm to turtle, let them swim together while you protect the area that the turtle is in. Bam, turtle. You don't need a taming pen for one of these guys and Bloodstalkers are just difficult to use, especially when dealing with eels/jellies. Was able to tame 3 high lvls this way.

Syntac I feel your pain spent 4 hours straight trying to tame one of these today and didn't even succeed the turtle and microbe swarm are absurdly slow and the entire process can be completely destroyed so easily

The first and ONLY time I have ever tamed one of these things, I had to search for 3 hours to find one above 120 or so. I finally found a 150, which is really low for my server because the difficulty is ramped up super high, but I started taming it anyway. I had to search for another 30 minutes to find a swarm, then when I finally dragged the stupid swarm up to the turtle he wouldn't eat it. I tried everything people were saying online about taming methods, nothing. So then I grabbed another swarm, still nothing, the damn turtle was just swimming in circles ignoring everything. So then I said screw it, I'm gonna go find every damn swarm in the sea and drag them all back to the turtle. 2 hours of dragging swarms back later, the turtle was surrounded by swarms, they were everywhere! It was actually kind of funny to look at but I was so pissed by this point I didn't even care. BUT I finally saw a tiny shred taming progress, it slowly went all the way up to 50 and stopped. I was done, I didn't even want the damn thing anymore. But since I was on my own private server I just spawned in a tamed 150 megachelon. It was the first time I ever cheated to get a tame, totally worth it!

You can actually tame a megachelon with 1 swarm of fish, basically do not trap it, the turtle does not eat the fish, the fish just clean the turtle of barnacles or whatever and thats how it gets tamed, it seems like he eats the fish tho because he's trapped and the fish get eaten by salmon and coels that get spawned in the area to eat the swarm, let the turtle swim freerly, bring a swarm to it and let it tame while you defend it from all kinds of stuff!

If I'm not mistaken, the tek helmet highlights the fish swarm. Do the big beatdown to easily get one, I got 4 helmets the first time I did it.

In order to let bushes grow on the turtle's back, you need to put quite a few seeds into its inventory and it takes a loooooooooooong time

Syntac, sea turtles eat sea grass and jellyfish. It's likely based off the legend of the world turtle, the legend of the earth being on the back of a huge turtle. Also using a trap is inefficient, letting them roam free the swarm never hits them but salmon will spawn to eat the swarm. On average you only need 1 swarm, you will have to kill the salmon and any creatures that agro the turtle.

If anything hits the turtle during the taming. It resets the taming bar. Just to annoy you more the taming summons fish to have a chance to hit the turtle.

i found that these are much easier to tame with a behemoth gate trap and a tek shield... just lure the turtle into the trap then go grab the fish school then activate the shield once the school starts taming... now just sit and wait
