The key to understanding how Taliesin is Percy is to know that Taliesin is an old-school goth. If anyone was gonna rock up to a D&D game with a gothic horror backstory and potential demonic possession, it was gonna be him. Or Liam (Vax'ildan's player). Here are a couple of fun facts for you two about the cast 1. David Tennant is most commonly known as the tenth iteration of The Doctor on Doctor Who. But many cartoon fans may also remember him as the new voice of Scrooge McDuck from the Ducktales reboot 2. Mason Alexander Park is a non-binary performer on the cast whose done mostly stage shows. One of their most famous roles was that of Dr. Frank N Ferter on a production of Rocky Horror 3. Many cartoon fans may also recognize Khary for his animated portrayals of the Titan, Cyborg. 4. As you guessed, Dominic WAS one of the hobbits from Lord of the Rings; specifically, Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry.) As for his voice, that's how he actually sounds like nowadays; due to it suddenly growing deeper over the years. 5. Indira played the wife of Oberyn Martell, Ellaria Sand 6. Every show was bigger than the last one. The last show I attended live was the “Darrington Brigade” one-shot story they performed in Austin TX at the Bass Concert Hall/Texas Performing Arts Center, which usually hosts symphony events, broadway stage plays, and ballet. They sold out the 2,900-seat venue in minutes. Live shows are always wild. The crowds are amazing - “Hey all this people are Critters! They like this weird thing I like!” With everybody just so happy to be in a huge space with thousands of other people that UNDERSTAND why we love the cast and characters so much. LOTS of cosplay too. (There are videos of the crowd in Austin singing along to the “Your Turn to Roll” theme song before the screen that captures the energy of the live crowd.) A whole lot of fun, and the cast always delivers on the antics and the stories. I hope then now Covid restrictions are dying down, more Critters will get a chance to participate in a live show. Obviously it's not always possible, but I think it helps visualize what that character might look like when they do/say things considering that many (if not all) VAs tend to use their bodies and faces to 'act' during their recording sessions to help reach for the characters they are portraying. 5:18 - If you're wondering why they're filming Sunil standing in a full closet, with headphones on: That's where he recorded his lines. Due to the pandemic shutdown, the voice actors could no longer come into the studio to record, and they had to do it at home. Now, most professional VAs have the required microphones and recording equipment to do that - but very few have the required time, money, and _space_ in their homes to have an entire room fitted with sound-baffling foam panels for a professional-grade recording environment. But there is a trick, known to hobbyists and professionals alike: a fully stocked closet, with all the cloth hanging and stacked on shelves, does a great job of absorbing soundwaves and thus minimising the reverb and echo you would normally get in such a small, enclosed space. Thus, when the pandemic hit, all the actors had to record their lines at home, mostly in closets just like this one, with the voice director listening in and directing via a zoom call. 🌈🌟 The more you know…

That was a great reaction to watch! I watched your whole series of reactions to LoVM and loved them so this is great to see. I would love to see you guys do more Vox content but honestly I’m not sure real episodes would work as reactions? So maybe after watching a few episodes yourselves, react to “Best Of”s? Like best of briarwood arc or something. Love the channel!

As an old school critter I don't know that it was a concern so much because I fully trust whatever the critical role team puts together will be amazing. But I was incredibly curious about who they would choose to voice these characters as we had only seen them via the theater of the mind through the acting and voice of Matt.
@hhylobates40982 жыл бұрын
If you want a little more insight into the voice acting from the main crew in the animation, theres another behind the scenes video in this series titled "The Legend of the *Voices* of the Legend of Vox Machina". Also I would second the suggestions that episode 36 "Winters Crest In Whitestone" is a good single episode to try out.

Man i love seeing new critters react to this stuff ive been into it since 2018, which isn't a Lot by critter standards but like, still a good chunk lmao I love seeing this whole journey and the show is sm funn

If you decide to watch some Critical Role I suggest checking out Campaign 2 or the more recent (still in progress) Campaign 3. Campaign 1 (the campaign in which Vox Machina season 1 and the announced season 2 will be set within) is good but has a rough start. Campaign 1 started being recorded mid-campaign and the early episodes have some audio issues. Campaign 2 and 3 were recorded from the start and have better production value.

Depending on where you're thinking about starting to watch CR, I'll say that if you're starting at the beginning, maybe skip these for now, but there are some pretty awesome videos on KZbin where a particular critter has edited the live actual play of important scenes next to the animated version, which are universally great adaptations, but have some cool and well-thought-out differences. Highly recommended. And heads up that the production value gets better as the actual play show gets more experience, so don't let any early audio or production issues stop you from watching. Welcome to the critter fam!

Bro PLEASE watch the live action version. THAT WOULS BE AWESOME. Obviously, cut it up a bit, but I really think you guys would like it.

They are currently making videos (some critters I believe) comparing moments from the table to the moments in the Anime. So I would think someone is putting together a video on Matt’s NPC voices compared to how they are in the Anime. Should be around somewhere and if not should be coming soon.

I have loved your journey into curious to fans of the show. Hopefully, you keep up with the content or updates about your reaction to various CR things. They have a literal plethora of content. If you want to see more of Khary on CR, I cannot recommended Undeadwood enough. It is a more narrative and RP focused tabletop western with, then CR community host, Bryan W Foster as the GM (Game Master). The cast and the RP is so engaging and they really pull you in. Can't wait to continue to see what you two do.

That would be a good way to get their feet wet with watching this type of content, without having to invest a lot of time trying to catch up with the thousands of hours of the actual show. It's just 4 episodes. It also includes Anjali Bhimani, the priestess of the Everlight that helps Pike.

17:00 well, I can highly recommend going back and watching campaign 1. Don't mind the production/sound issues in the beginning, it gets better. You might want to hold off on watching past episode 38 because of spoilers though.

If you'd like to see the live reactions there are a few "One shot" live events that may have minor spoilers but you'd still be able to enjoy. Try The adventures of The Darrington Brigade which is the cast in completely new roles to avoid spoilers or try The Search for Grog for a posy campaign adventure by Vox Machina but I'll confirm there is one major major spoilers referenced in that event. Both are amazing and lots of fun!

I’d avoid the Grog one-shot. Big spoiler warning.

I would love to watch a video of you two reacting to one of the original table sessions. (Yeah... I know.... they're three or four hours long.... an editing nightmare) I think it would be cool to see people who love the animation watch the 'live action' for the first time.

Or, if that's too much of a time commitment, here are some clips from the live show that might be good ideas: Here is a half hour long clip from the original Scanbo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5alqaVmaausj9k One of the best things about the episodes being to long is that you can have marvelous little scenes that have nothing to do with the main plot. For example, here's a fan favorite. One night Grog asks Pike to teach him how to read: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3O4c5hnlr6jmLs And maybe most interesting, before they even started streaming their showw, there were just a group of friends playing in their living room. There is only a few videos of that. Here's a 10 minute clip of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3O4c5hnlr6jmLs

If you guys are still feeling the critter hype, the channels Arsequeef and JudgmentFish have uploaded a lot of scene comparisons between the original streams and the animated show. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be interested to see your reactions to the source material, and vids like that are a less time-consuming alternative to full stream reaction. Worth considering 👀

There are some great videos out there now that people compiled comparing the Vox Machina scenes to their original Critical Role scenes. You might enjoy going over those first to help associate the main cast with their characters and making sure you don't spoil future storylines.

If you want to watch a full episode of Critical Role, I'd suggest starting with the first episode of the second campaign. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKrZkmOehM9rebc It has no spoilers for the first campaign or The Legend of Vox Machina. The production quality is a lot better than the first campaign, as well. Also, if you want to see events from the first campaign compared with the animated show, check out ArseQueef's channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp6koqOvjZKMjLM

Btw, in case you didnt know. I believe everybody in the group is married in real life except for Talliesin (Percy). Matt (the DM) and Marisha (Keyleth) are married to each other, Laura (Vex) and Travis (Grog) are married to each other, and then Liam, Sam, and Ashley are married to people outside the game

If you guys decide to put up the work to see a couple of EP a week, I would recommend start with campaign 2. New characters, new story, new countries to explore; same Players/Voice actors. First campaign has a lower production value and is "harder to get attach to" IMHO. But if you are just adamant in continue to follow the adventures of the characters from the cartoon I would recommend start either at the beginning of the briarwood arc (to see were the cartoon came from) or right after has they start the next chapter. Just take it in that a 20m episode in game take is probably around 4 game sessions of 3 to 4 hours each. Not the same rhythm, but a lot more detailed.

If you want to see an episode of the game, but don't want spoilers, I'd say definitely c1 ep 24 "the feast". It's what episode three is about in the show and is one of my favorites. Definitely older quality and done before Critical Role made their own company.

If you want to dive deeper into the VA's other characters, there are compilations of many of them on KZbin. I know I've seen (relatively recent) compilations for Matt Mercer and Laura Bailey, and older compilations for Grey Griffin, Travis Willingham, Ashley, and Liam

Right, we knew he wouldn’t do everyone. There were some that we were curious about. Like Gilmore is a POC so it wouldn’t be good to have a white man voice him, even if Gilmore is Matt’s favorite character who he’d most like to be he knows casting white actors to voice POC characters is a huge problem and wouldn’t want to contribute to that. So who would do this character was a big question. It’s fun to see how people sound by Matt versus by the actors.

With Vox Machina being told in Animation you might try their Campaign 2. Same world Different characters! And with everything they learned in Campaign 1 it has an excellent flow and a new great set they made for the game.

If you want to watch some of their streams, they just started a new campaign not long ago so you can start watching their campaign 3 if 115 episodes of their first campaign is too much of an investment.
