He most likely gets traded to Minnesota for Love, but do they get the top pick the next season to make that move? If they didn't take Waiters, then who? I don’t know if I’d call Joe Smith a “bust” necessarily. He had a LONG career as a useful role player and showed flashes of talent, especially on the defensive end. Kwame Brown’s a far more prominent #1 overall bust and Fultz is heading for a less prominent career. Hell, there’s even an argument to be made that he’s a better #1 overall than Ben Simmons simply on the basis that his career lasted longer and he was a far less sabotaging teammate.

If there’s anything good I can say about Anthony Bennett Is that him getting drafted really really marked a change and how Canadian players were viewed **AS PROSPECTS** .Around the time he was drafted the most highly touted Canadians prospects were Tristan Thompson Kelly, himself and maybe Corey Joseph. Whether or not he did play a role in getting that eye on Canadian players dropping the stigma that they were greatly worse prospects, than their counterparts south of the border.

If you look at busts as a move by the organization and how bad this move was and not really counting luck, because making a stupid move and being unlucky are slightly different things, Wiseman should be higher on the bust list. They had an all time great in Curry and they decided not to compete but use prime Curry as a nurse for their future. They knew Wiseman was not viewed as a good prospect and they refused to trade him or his pick. To me-nothing beats this decision. They screwed themselves so hard i can see blood stains from their ass on the court every time i watch Warriors games. Btw, so-called fans were totally on Wiseman/Lacob/Bob/Steve side and against Curry. Mindbending.

I dislike Ben Simmons too but it would be very disingenuous for any of us to say that. Rookie of the year, 3 all star appearances and was the 1-2 punch of the Sixers next to Embiid...Ben Simmons may be the biggest disappointment in the NBA but I can't call him a bust because he has acquired accolades, back when he wanted to play and still had heart and a spine. Bennett amounted to absolutely nothing in the league and flamed out within 4 seasons. Even so Simmons wouldn't even be top 5 in biggest draft busts of all time. 1. Anthony Bennett 2. Michael Olowakandi 3. Hasheem Thabeet 4. Kwame Brown 5. Darko Milicic
@vise_atoxity80832 ай бұрын
@@TheyCallMeSledgeRegardless of accolades, Ben is definitely still a bust. He was called the greatest prospect since LeBron, was listed as the second coming of LeBron AND listed as better than him at everything not related to shooting the ball, and now.. he’s a Net averaging 5 PPG with nothing else to show for it. That’s a bust, in my eyes. Another thing favoring him for the bust title.. He was said to be the final piece in a 76ers championship. Just two years later, his head coach, a championship winning head coach, said he was not good enough to lead a team at ANY position when it came to winning a championship. He isn’t a bust in terms of a failed rookie contract or tenure. He’s a bust in terms of being an absolute failure WITH that talent.
@guangdong68052 ай бұрын
@vise_atoxity8083 I think the definition of what a bust is fluid and changes depending on what a person believes it to be, as well as the expectations of said player. If you consider it to be expectations of a first overall pick, Ayton is a bust compared to his peers. But not all first overall picks pan out. Having said that, I do think if you consider Simmons to be the next coming of Bron, yeah, he's absolutely a bust - but I feel as if those expectations were rather extreme and there were already multiple signs before the draft he wasn't all that. I consider him a disappointment - but unlike many other draft busts, Ben had a career that even average NBA role players would kill for.
@shorewall2 ай бұрын
I think he was bad, but I also judge busts based on the opportunity cost. The 2013 draft was terrible. Of the front runners, they really only missed out on Oladipo. Now, Oladipo was the right pick, but looking at his career, I don't think that was the biggest missed opportunity. I think Thabeet over Harden and Curry is worse. Marvin Bagley over Luka in 2018 is a heartbreaker that gets swept under the rug because 1) it's the Kings, and 2) it wasn't the number 1 pick. If we add injury related busts, then Bowie over MJ (which would have been a bust even if Bowie was healthy), and Oden over KD. But as they say, injuries aren't really fair (unless they are already injured like Bowie).
