Hey. Thanks so much for watching. I’m a little late with the new video but it’s coming soon so stay tuned. Any suggestions about some iconic sci-fi sounds??

@@Koboto I think the Yamaha CS-80 on Vangelis' Blade Runner would be a great pick. Also the ARP Quadra in John Carpenter's Escape From New York or the Oberheim OB-Xa in Brad Fidel's The Terminator would be very interesting. But that's just me.

cool video and close enough sound with some original edges - will have to try the R2D2 voice...

Nice one. Have fun! Thanks for checking out my video.

S&H was not used. Playing the keyboard while tweaking filter cut-off allowed him to perform the beeps rather than it sounding completely random and "in rhythm" as a S&H unit would make.
@Koboto4 жыл бұрын
Could be. I guess I could have looked into that a bit more. Thanks for the clarification!
@tuc59873 жыл бұрын
Certainly S&H was also used, just not exclusively. Some of the fast (but rhythmically regular) pitch changes are done by machine, not by hand. R2D2's voice is stitched together from parts played with keyboard, parts vocalized into a mic, and also parts generated by random pitches using S&H. S&H doesn't have to be in rhythm, you can turn up or down the speed of the sampling&holding.

Ben wasn’t the foley artist. He was the sound designer. Foley is sound performed to picture.
@Koboto3 жыл бұрын
Far enough, both are cut from the same cloth IMO though. I just wanted to give some background on the process of creating sound for picture.
@megazoned39733 жыл бұрын
@@Koboto well- both are two different things. The only common “cloth” would be film sound. But the disciplines are entirely different.

Where did you goooo😭😭😭. Come back and make more videos😭😩. I really wanna know how those sounds from transformers 3 was made during that car chase😩

HAha. yeah...sigh. I've been wanting to get back into making videos. Hopefully new stuff coming soon. Thanks fro the encouragement!
@sorayaknox1812 Жыл бұрын
@Koboto I really do think aside from my own selfish reasons of wanting to see ya videos that you have really great content. I love the style and u can tell you put a lot of work and effort into your videos. I honestly think if you're up to coming back you should do that and maybe do some remakes of some commercial songs to maybe build some traction or some of the more complex sounding TV show soundtracks(kinda like what you were doing).
