I got to play this actual 2500 for a few minutes once. A fellow musician in the area owned it for a while. He eventually sold it, but I’m happy just to have even seen it.

That Awesome!! How was the patch matrix? I’ve heard that it can be tricky to work with.
@Tibbon3 жыл бұрын
@@Koboto It's not awful to work with, and keeps things quite tidy without needing patch cables everywhere. I can imagine why it didn't take off outside this one synth - cost, reliability, interoperability, etc. I didn't get to spend more than 10 minutes on it, but it was awesome to behold! I don't know where it ended up after it sold about a decade ago, but I doubt I'll ever set hands to it again!

I have been trying to track down this rumor that the arp 2500 in Close Encounters, is in fact Jerry Goldsmith's. It was in for repair.
@Koboto8 ай бұрын
I think I heard that as well, actually. I wonder who has it today. :-)
@agerven3 ай бұрын
The original 1027 step sequencer of the ARP 2500, as most of us know today, boasted 3 x 10 steps. The Behringer equivalent, due to having the Eurorack format, is truely limited to 3 x 8 steps 3:52

Hi Koboto, can you recreate the Thumping Bass James Horner played on a Jupiter 8 for Star Trek II? He also used a few other synths as well. (CS80 I believe and Serge synth)

Good idea! I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks so much for watching!!

Very informative, but please don't use a "teleprompter" wider than the camera lense. Its like watching someone watching a tennis game. But... as I said it was very informative and very interesting, so please keep up the good work. I am subscribing for sure. I have to add an advice. Learn the lines and do them in more and smaller takes (if its difficult to remember). Then you can always insert some video between takes and no one will discover that its smaller takes.

Thanks, very informative and interesting. How about doing 2001: A Space Odyssey?
@Koboto4 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I think that’s mostly Strauss orchestra stuff from my memories. Is there some synth work in there? If so, do you know what synth(s) we’re used? Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching!!!

@@Koboto I was thinking about the special effects rather than the music. Especially in the pod scenes where there are all kinds of interesting sounds that have obviously done with synths.

Holy shit did you have inside knowledge about the behringer clones that just got announced or is this an insane coincidence
@Koboto4 жыл бұрын
Whaaaat? Haha. No idea of what they’ve got going on. I’ll check it out now. What do think of these clones? I’m definitely mixed on it. On one hand, I love theses classic synths and what the can do, and it’s cool to make them available for more people now... but... onethe other hand, I think it’s a bit strange to look back rather than creating and innovating. Thoughts?

@@Koboto A great instrument is a great instrument. So what if it's 50 years old?
@snoolee79503 жыл бұрын
behringer garbage. there fixed that for you. these are not "clones" they're concept copies with different design, circuitry and build, add familiar paint color and graphic. Do not spread this dishonst "clone" propaganda. The only thing "clone" is the color of the paint.

@@Koboto dishonest garbage money exploit. same thing applies to purses, watches, and perfume. If you live in a hut with a dirt floor you'll love and defend it as "your only chance." It is a perverse exploit.

excellent content, but Bubba your audio is over-compressed. are you scared of your own voice? you have so much compression it is painful to listen to.
@Koboto3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah...there’s definitely a lot of ways that things can be improved. Just the “fun” of doing everything by myself and trying to get it out in the time I’ve allowed. I’m not sure what happened there. I actually went back and listened to all 5 of the videos that I did in that series and the audio is very inconsistent. Haha. It’s funny because I’m actually a post mixer for documentary in my real life. Haha. Honestly. I’m still new at producing videos so I spend most of my time wrestling with the writing, shooting and editing. By the time that I crash land on my deadline I just spit it out, upload and move on. I’ve found that if I obsess on any aspects that I never get anything out. That being said, I do appreciate the feedback. I think the sound quality has been slowly improving and I’ll continue to get better as time goes on. Thanks again for watching. :-)
