"This farm is, by most standards, tiny. I have a vegetable and fruit garden of about 700 square meters on a property of 2000 square meters. And yet it is not only more than enough, but almost everyone that comes here asks why I needed to plant so much fruit and vegetables. I think most people just do not have a notion of what you would want to plant to be able to feed yourself year-round from your own produce.
I set out in 2020 to build a syntropic agroforestry garden based on the guidelines provided by Ernst Goetsch. Someone who had worked with him advised that the best way to learn was to dive in. I am in my 3rd year and each year I seem to learn so much, make so many mistakes, and advance in leaps and bounds.
My soil fertility has improved drastically - I now have an abundance of insects. I have an amazing biodiversity. My vegetable patches are now filled with flowers. I have more and more perennial beds. And I am beginning to process my food and sell it. I also give classes and host volunteers."
