Nicole Masters is a Soil Maven and Earth Warrior. She brings both grit and grace to her practices and teachings as an agroecologist, author, and coach. We interviewed her for Reflections because she embodies curiosity, wonder, and the power of reflection.

•Soil health involves nurturing a diverse and thriving ecosystem of microbes, fungi, and other organisms that create a balanced and nutrient-rich environment for plants.

•Minimize soil disturbance, maximize biodiversity, and integrate natural processes to improve soil fertility and resilience.
•Learn from failures and mistakes, much like a child learning to walk, celebrating each step toward improvement.
•Learn and adapt in farming and life. Evolve your methods, be open to change, and continuously learn from experiences and the environment.
ABOUT NICOLE MASTERS
Nicole is an agroecologist, educator, systems thinker, and author. Since 1999 she has developed extensive practical and theoretical experience in regenerative soil and land practices. As a seasoned soils coach, she has a proven record in supporting producers in meeting their goals. Her company Integrity Soils now offers training programs to ‘Train the Trainers’ in Agroecology. Her passion for fostering the growth of these farming practices calls upon diverse skills in facilitation, conflict resolution, an understanding of behavioral change, and science communication.
