Sheoldred, Whispering One can be a nice addition to this deck since it makes your opponents sac creatures at their upkeep and allows you to bring creatures back to the battlefield from your graveyard at your upkeep,

Not sure where to put this but I saw a spoiler today for Emry, Lurker of the Loch and thought about your budget Jhoira deck. I made a budget list that plays much the same way and comes in at $44.71 by tcgplayer before factoring in used or heavily played variants. The only cards not included were the basic lands (37 islands), the Commander, and 2 other Throne of Eldraine cards (Faerie Formation and Corridor Monitor). It has two higher costed cards but I toned down a lot of other stuff to make the room (thornnbite staff as low as $5.24 and Kuldotha Forgemaster as low as $2.70). For others' information Emry is a 2U 1/2 Legendary merfolk wizard that costs 1 less for each artifact you control (this reduces commander tax iirc). She mills you for 4 when she enters and can tap to target an artifact in your graveyard, you may play that card this turn. So where Jhoira combos by spam drawing and casting, Emry combos from the graveyard using the thornbite or corridor monitor to untap and gaining value through Sai or a few other triggers. If anyone is interested in the list, I'll post it.

I know it's not budget at all, but I love the interaction between Necropotence and Konrad, where you discard the cards and then exile them, making it so you get two triggers per creature.

Was able to put this deck together using some cards I had (lands and 3or4 other cards) for $55 (Canadian dollars) there were a few adjustments in there, but overall very similar. Looking forward to trying it out.

You could also add in grave crawler it can't block but you can pay a black and bring it from the graveyard getting a trigger. Also due to the sage vampire you can sac grave crawler over and over getting two triggers even 3 in one turn by bringing grave crawler out saving him and bringing him out again

So this is actually my best deck i run. If people wanna spend a little more monet, i highly recomend cards like nirkana revenant and bubbling muk in order to increase mana and pay for bigger stuff. I tend to run tokens on this and use creatures like torgaar and whisper for sack engines and grave tutors.

This deck looks sick. If I can scrounge up $50 or so, plus however much the Commander costs (so like $60 at most, unless any card in the list spikes) I might make this my second paper Commander deck. My playgroup knows me as the combat guy, so playing a deck that doesn’t win through combat might be a nice way to subvert their expectations.

A very nice upgrade for this guy would be tortured existence. Paying B to get two triggers of of the commander, plus it lets you toolbox using your graveyard. It’s pretty cheap too.

Very surprised at lack of Living Death. Exile your yard, Sac all fields, and that might be game right there. Sounds like a lot of fun. It's way more plausible to mill/reanimate/kill 40 than mill 100. I might have to nab Konrad out of the Knights or pick up a second.

My only thought pre video was, isn't there a decent chance the set contains additional cards which this deck might want? I would personally wait to build until the set is spoiled. I'll grant two things. First, 100% not saying Mitch shouldn't have made the video - obviously his timing is ideal for KZbin purposes. My recommendation to wait a little is just for imitators like myself. Second, this commander's two strategy choices (aristocrats or mill) are both well established. There shouldn't be a need for any new cards, I'll admit that.

Wouldn't Living Death also fit well into this deck? You first exile all creatures from your graveyard, which pings your opponents, then you sac all your creatures, even if you have just a few in play that still will give a fair bit of damage. Then because you've milled yourself for a ton during the game you will have plenty of creatures that will end up going onto the battlefield. You'd just have to recast your commander if need be, but even without it can be a game finisher

What about another instant, Crypt Incursion. 2c,1b. Exile all creature cards from target player's graveyard. You gain 3 life for each card exiled this way. I've added it to my Phenax Mill deck, and it saved my ass a few times already when I simply couldn't block 2 or 3 pesty flyers.

I'm a little surprised you didn't mention Nim Deathmantle (priced $2.99 as of this comment) as an upgrade option here. Obviously Su-Chi isn't an option due to its price, but Cathodion is and it costs mere pennies, so while you can't necessarily have the infinite Su-Chi/Nim Deathmantle/sac outlet combo, you can at least reduce the effective cost to activate the Deathmantle to 1 per cycle, and if you've got enough open mana that could very easily end the game, especially if you gave Syr Konrad infect. Going this route, Dimir House Guard would be a decent option as well, since not only can it act as a sac outlet, but it will trigger Konrad if you transmute it.

I own Exqusite blood that I don't use anywhere, it's just sitting in my binder, if I put it in here, Gary gains me life equal to twice the devotion to black :D I have sanguine bond too, but that combo is boring, but it wins games on the spot so I am gonna puty it in, since I own the card anyway, not sure what to take out though. so I think I'll buy this deck and put Exqusite blood into the deck for something like a colorless mana rock or something. this looks like a ton of fun. deadly mill :) what about... what's that thing called that makes you dump your hand every turn, then draw that many cards? Teferi's Puzzle Box, wouldn't that work well here?` I love this deck by the way. I need a mono black deck. I had no idea what commander to go with, but this looks really fun. with a feww alterations to this list it can be pretty powerful too. But the commander I'm really excited for is "Alela, Artful Provocateur". I love tribal, so that one looks like fun. I have an ulamog too, putting that in means that every creature milled before it gets shuffled into the library again when it hits the yard, meaning our commander then triggers again. hmm.... that needs to be in here, its also sitting in my binder doing nothing. + if we get it out, it has Annihilator 4 and kills pretty quickly. Edit: Putrid Goblin is really good, because it has persist, meaning you sac it, everyone loses a life, it comes back, everyone loses one more. it's a black zombie goblid, a 2/2 for 1 and a black mana, costs 0.2 $ on tcgplayer

The card synergy is amazing! I do have a question though. What are your thoughts on splashing Balthor the Defiled into this? I think he'd be a nice addition due to his mass revival effect, even if it's only a one time use, if you have a bunch a creatures in the grave, it could mean MAJOR damage.

Hey Mitch, I know you normally only do this for Patrons, but my brother has been struggling on ways to make an efficient Dimir mill deck that can hold its own in multi commander without full blown combos. I was wondering if you could maybe put together a video so we'd have some ideas on how to improve on his deck. I would do the whole patron thing, but the deck techs they pitch are based on a commander. All I got is a colour base and a theme to ask for. If ya can't, no worries. But it'd be appreciated, because even I'm not fully sure how to make that dream a reality.

Its just 21 damage. So assuming a 4 person game...just mill 6 cards for each person. Another way is trying to wheel or discard effects. It also removes removal to use against our commander. Mind crank is super fucking good though.

You need the full 40 damage per opponent. 21 (for commander damage) only counts when it's combat damage.
