Hi Brent. I'm a little confused about the Ricky Collins story. Was your source wrong? Are they still hammering out NIL deal and therefore there hasn't been an announcement? Did he get wind that McCord may have a good shot at returning and he's changed his mind?

I was thinking how other regional programs are just easier.on the eyes. If you could watch Colgate for 20 dollars in a nice more comfortable gym why pay twice that to sit in an empty football stadium to watch dysfunction get spanked by tobacco road.

@@paulstefi5714life long Syracuse fan, season ticket holder back in Manley. Retired to Rochester in 2018. While I still watch the Orange from a distance, as hard as that is these days, these days I get my basketball fix watching our local D3 schools( RIT, U of R, Nazareth, St John Fisher). I agree with your “easier on the eyes” take. Players are hungrier, they’ll most likely be there for multiple years so you can watch them develop over time, well coached. Athleticism is a notch below but it’s still quality hoops.

The bowl games have become the NIT. To get the 13-30th teams interested in them, they're going to need to make them play-in games for the playoffs. Otherwise, NCAA is going to to have to require players go if there's no valid reason and they haven't declared for the draft. I imagine if they commit to a team before bowl games, they may even start getting paid not to play if they are not forced and it's not a play-in game.

I dont think the Coach and Ohio state will have to sign off on anything..I think his plee is going to be that Day was delinquent or however you say it in lawyer lingo in the fact that he blew Kyle's redshirt year by putting him in for 5 mins in a blowout..he didn't have the best interest of the player in mind when he did that..let's hope NCAA agrees..

I'm a Cuse fan but in reality I don't understand why he wouldn't go pro, when he was voted 10th best QB this year and he was #1 in passing.

Even if he gets the extra year, he may not take it and move on. However, only 11 QBs were taken in last year's draft and it comes down to team need and style of play etc. He's probably looking at rounds 4-7 which pays similar to what he could make at SU next year. Plus, he could improve his stock if he plays well against a REALLY tough schedule.

I think they can fix the mass exodus transfer portal issue by limiting the portal window to between spring and fall semesters. Eliminate the winter portal period altogether. The players can enter the portal after the spring semester. They'll miss spring camp, but they'll be on campus for fall camp. The NCAA can win this in court by pointing to NIL as the differentiating factor between athletes and normal students. They're paid athletes now. In my opinion people are being way too easy on these players. They're being given special treatment, so now it's their turn to reciprocate with some compromise.

Carmelo won the national title and went third in the NBA draft. How could he improve on that with another year at SYR? His stock would only go down.

Since these athletes are getting paid now, the rules should change and grant athletes more time to play if they decide to continue getting an education.
