Bassey comes from Syria. In 2011, he came to Yiwu, east China's Zhejiang Province to operate a building materials business. He thinks that sending building materials to Syria is like rebuilding his homeland. He has married a Chinese and settled in Yiwu since his arrival here nine years ago. He mentioned that he really wanted to connect his hometown with his adopted home in China. He will try his best to help his relatives in Syria, even though it is difficult to do so.
