Story time! So once upon a time in my youth, i watched a scary movie. I don't remember 100% what it was, possibly Ghost Ship, but it's irrelevant; at the end of the movie, as the Final Girl was loaded into the back of an ambulance, she saw the Main Baddie leading another group on the same journey she just survived, even tho he was supposed to be dead. She shouted "NOOO" as the doors closed, credits roll, and a song plays. The guitar riff of that song got stuck in my head. Flash forward to near the end of 2020. That guitar riff had been stuck in my head for ELEVEN OR TWELVE FRIGGIN YEARS. It kept popping up in the background of my mind, DRIVING ME FUCKING CRAZY because i had no idea what it was called, couldn't remember the lyrics, and that guitar riff was the only thing i remember, to the point where i thought i had just made up the entire riff in my head because i just could. NOT. FIND IT. EVER. I had asked my dad, a 70's metalhead, if he had ever heard the lyrics - and this was the guy who, the year prior, found out another song that had plagued me just by me humming the background beat ((White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. Couldn't remember any lyrics, ONLY the repeating guitar that's become so famous.)) - and even though i hummed the line, he couldn't figure it out. I asked my cousin, who is an aspiring musician, talented with the guitar, if she had ever heard it, and even though she's heard every metal/rock song under the fucking sun, it still didn't trigger any memory for her. So, back to late 2020 - i'm sitting there, thinking i had just fever dreamt that entire sequence at the end of the movie, and binging more recent Jason videos. I decided to go scrolling for more meme videos, and came upon this video. AND THERE IT IS; THE FUCKING GUITAR RIFF THAT HAS HAUNTED ME FOR AROUND TWELVE YEARS, ALWAYS POPPING UP WITH NO LYRICS TO ACCOMPANY IT IN MY HEAD, DRIVING ME CRAZY BECAUSE I COULDN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE. MOTHERFUCKING AERIALS, BY SYSTEM OF A DOWN. THAT "do-do-do-do-DOOOO" BIT, THAT'S WHAT GOT STUCK IN MY HEAD. TWELVE YEARS, AND I FINALLY FOUND IT. So i just gotta say Jason, THANK YOU. THANK you for ridding me of the lyric-less demon version that haunted me for so long, and adding another song to my list that i listen to on a monthly basis. THANK YOU. Even if you didn't mean to, you helped me conquer a great foe. THANK YOU. Edit: It was THIS video.
