I’m 21. I found Systsm of a Down 2-3 days ago but ever since I was young - I remember hearing Serj’s voice in some mix my aunt used to play and it just literally would touch my fucking soul. I can’t explain his voice was just so amazing. I spent my life trying to find out who the hell it was. So when I randomly decided to listen to System of a Down and I heard his voice? I remember being in the third grade, the son of a deployed soldier, and being plopped down in front of the TV with the news being blasted in my face. My mom would make me watch the news while she couldn't (in the mornings before school while she got my younger siblings ready). My job was to read a never ending list of names. Not just any names though, no... Names of all the soldiers that had died since the 'war on terror' had began. Basically I just had to read the names and make sure if my dads name came up, to tell mom. I knew why he was there. She came and got us from school the day the planes hit and made me watch that too. Now, she didn't tell me what the names meant, but I was a smart kid, and caught on almost immediately. Hard not to with all the different videos of humvee's being blown to smithereens being played every 30 seconds. This song reminds me of that list. The worst list I ever had to read. The list that only got longer. I had to have read thousands of names. Nobody but me... Still by the soldier's side.

Verse 1: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian] Dead man lying on the bottom of the grave Wondering when savior comes, is he gonna be saved? Maybe you're a sinner into your alternate life Maybe you're a joker, maybe you deserve to die [Chorus: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian] They were crying when their sons left, God is wearing black He's gone so far to find no hope, he's never coming back They were crying when their sons left, all young men must go He's come so far to find the truth, he's never going home [Verse 2: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian] Young men standing on the top of their own graves Wondering when Jesus comes, are they gonna be saved? Cruelty to the winner, bishop tells the king his lies Maybe you're a mourner, maybe you deserve to die [Chorus: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian] They were crying when their sons left, God is wearing black He's gone so far to find no hope, he's never coming back They were crying when their sons left, all young men must go He's come so far to find the truth, he's never going home [Guitar Solo] [Outro: Serj Tankian & Daron Malakian] Welcome to the soldier side, where there's no one here but me People all grow up to die, there is no one here but me Welcome to the soldier side, there is no one here but me People on the soldier side, there is no one here but me

I can feel this song in every part of my being... the charged adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin release from this song leaves me vibrating, as I feel a passionate Braveheart war cry come up from my gut
