Omar Lopez Writing lyrics is hardly the selling point of SOAD. Its the music and the arrangement. Serj’s contributions are nil if Daron wasnt on guitar, doing the heavy riffs. Serj wanted to be what Linkin Park turned into. Cheesy predictable pop surfaced music.

I live in the DC area and bought this album the week of the 911 attacks. The highways were completely empty as the bridges in and out of DC were shut down. I listened to this for the first time on the way home after the attack on the Pentagon which is 10 minutes from where I worked. The street my office was on was an emergency path for first responders and we just watched on the news as fire trucks, ambulances and police sped by. The music and lyrics for me, are probably tinted a bit as far as meaning goes because of what happened that day... but it was a surreal life/music moment. Driving home on an empty I-95 highway that is usually bumper to bumper traffic, not being able to contact anyone because the phones were down. That was a crazy day. So to me, no matter what the meanings are for these songs, they are all about that day.

David Bovey I live in Baltimore and worked in Northern Virginia. I just came off 395 trying to get onto 66 west. I had to drive the connection right in front of the Pentagon to jump on 66. I waa on that connection the moment the plane flew right past me about 1500 feet and went right into the building. Scared the ever living shit out of me. We were all on that road for 10hrs because it was shut down immediately. All we could do was sit on the hoods of our vehicles and watch the horror all day. Most horrific thing I've ever saw to this day.

I have to say, It's refreshing as a Brit in a small town where we're bombarded by 'Americanisation' if you will, but so rarely are we shown that religious people can be intellectuals, and to be able to not only hear arguments from other points of view, but to value that information also is extraordinarily impressive to me, I absolutely love the honesty and lengthy breakdown of the songs.

Great reaction! Love your enthusiasm Vin! Thank you for your honesty Sori! The concept of ownership is learned. It is driven by ego in many ways. Most Native American tribes, for example, and other indigenous groups did not even have words that implied ownership. They certainly did not believe one could own land so when they signed treaties with the Europeans the concept was lost on them that it was a permanent contract. Tribes traditionally signed treaties with other tribes to temporarily inhabit a piece of land and then move on. It was also expected/understood that the tribes would not plunder the land so as to make it uninhabitable or less fruitful for the next tribe that followed them. Within tribes, individuals often did not own things. The tribe had resources but they were not owned by any one person. Individual objects could be sentimental or time consuming in their production but the barter systems in place often made it so well crafted and sentimental objects were passed around within a tribe or traded with other tribes. Nothing was "theirs" or "mine" in any sort of permanent sense. Maybe this will help provide insight into why you, as opposed to these examples, feel entitled to and a need for ownership.

A classic. +1. Although the title song can work great as well.
@matthewgodding7776 жыл бұрын
Now, here's my perspective: ultimately this is a Christians react channel: so they should put their money where their mouths are when it comes to the true mayhem. Forget behemoth, mayhem is the coldest shit there is. Emperor are sexy, mayhem are the sound of annihilation. And that deserves good sound quality. Grand Declaration of war and then anti. Grand: a statement of intent. Anti: achieving that intent. Behemoth write great tunes with great lyrics. Ordo ad chao is the closest to evil music can sound. There is no life, no warmth, no joy there. That album is a black void and anti is the pinnacle. Listen to grand, then anti. Then talk. Let's see that reaction. None of vin's giggle of 'he's going to hell' with watain. Just... "Fuuuck" and 5 minutes of numb silence.... I want to see that reaction. And I don't think anything off of mysteriis would achieve that. It's great if you already like mayhem and it's a classic. But from outside that circle it's like a swarm of angry bees and nothing more. You have to have multiple listens to take anything from it. This is a reaction channel: one shot. The only reaction reasonably is it sounds like shit and they're obviously all satanic and all. Give them crystal clear, soul chilling true mayhem. Sound quality. Focus of intent.

7:58 the more litteral meaning is to look through something narrow and dirty(since the spacing of the rims on a tire hub is narrow for the most part), thus having a distorted view of the world. The other meaning that still works, is if the Tire hub is like on old Chevy's, a polished mirror that send back a reflection, but since the dome lick shape of those tire hub, it sends back a distorted reflection of what you see. Works in both cases.

In terms of the "tired hub", the hub is likely a reference to computers (USB Hub, Email Hub, along with networking). Its likely referring to how the Internet and computers use is taking over society, but really doesn't bring any pleasure in life, and in fact can get boring. The part of the fires and loud neighbors is likely referring to the chaos of city life .. "more wood for their fires" is likely a reference to the homeless, "loud neighbors" is city noises like bars, fighting, etc, and "Flashlight Reverie caught in the headlights of a truck", refers to daydreaming (Reveries) as you try to shine it upon the world (flashlight) but is easily overcome by the city life "headlights of the truck".

Another great reaction Y’alls! 😎🤟 I see this song referring to the healthy-chaos that questions the status quo, the Establishment of “shut up and buy and consume’ ... also, a tire hub’s reflection flips the world upside down since it’s concave. :) ... the entire ‘cosmic wheel’ moves due to the inertia that construction and destruction provide... too much ‘order’ dies from either dogma or stagnation, and too much ‘disorder’ can’t be sustained due to its inherent lack of focus and organization... BUT there’s literally no life without death, no new ideas without the questioning or destruction of old established ones... no evolution without the healthy chaos of struggle, both physical and emotional.

My thought on "Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub" would be that you can only see in one direction, it's always spinning, and you can't just focus on one thing because of the constant radial motion. Things being turned upside down and back upright again, only to be upside down again.

I believe the lyrics are "Tired Hub" Being a geek who works on computers what I got from this was this: I think its a comparison to a ethernet switch or a USB hub. With a USB hub theres many different things plugged into it, always interchanging with different things like religion government relationships emotions etc. Thats why hes tired. He is always processing and downloading what is being plugged in and in turn starts to overload him. Then when whoever is plugging in all these things tried to control him thats where the disorder comes in. Because theres so much information and ideas overloading his mind and emotions. Just my take 😊. Love you guys!

System of a down was able to mix heavy metal instrumentals with opera style vocals and actually make it work very very well, which had never really been done to that extent at the time. Their style was so unique that they developed quite a large following. There were also elements of hip-hop and rap in their songs, and their drummer, John Dolmayan, is a very elite level jazz drummer who grew up listening to/learning the drums from all of his father's jazz albums, with his father being a professional saxophone player. So there are also elements of jazz in their music. A very unique style indeed, and refreshing at a time where metal had become mainly stale and repetitive, and the good rock music from the 90s had been pretty much phased out and overtaken by teen pop and rap. We need another System of a Down to emerge today if you ask me.

System has gone on record saying that there is a meaning behind every song, but it’s more important to them what YOU think the song means, and they will never directly state what a song is about because that takes away the listeners ability to think for themselves, which is something System is huge about. This however is pretty straightforward on the meaning. Other tracks like I-E-A-I-A-I-O really make you think, and that’s why I love these guys. Also, their activism efforts (especially Serj) are extremely admirable.

What are rights? They are not something we're entitled to "just because". They are privileges we're granting each other in society based on the things we care about the most and need the most. We need our personal space not to be invaded [without a very good reason] - if someone does it without our permission we feel violated and it can be dangerous for life and health; we need the fruits of our labour to be safe and not stolen - we can share them, but if they're stolen we'll feel internally violated (and this may come with the cost to health and life). We also have the need to protect our families and loved ones first. In relatively rich environment that supports sedentary lifestyle, owning a piece of land plays very well into those needs. All the rules that follow come from the need of some structure and relative certainty to fend off total chaos - if the game of society it to be played at all, you need to know the rules and be able to predict some general outcomes. But there are different levels of chaos. We're allowed certain freedoms as long as we don't violate the rules. And within that freedom there's some chaos. But coming back to the song - there are greedy people that want to order everything - not only nature, but also human beings. They want to game the system, control all aspects of it, limit the freedoms people enjoy and extort more resources for themselves. Corrupt politics, corrupt economics, corrupt corporations. But the human element can't be fully controlled [at least one would hope that not for long, because there are places in the world which seem to have broken the human spirit - still it's clearly not healthy and oppressive to human nature].

Dying in Circles, XX City Grave, and Depths II would be great places to start. Panic Room is another song, arguably their most popular, but it isn't religious - it's about PTSD.

Highly recommend you to pick something from their debut , because internet is fulfilled with reaction to their most popular songs like BYOB or Lonely Day or Chop Suey etc

I like the idea of complexity, as complete chaos can result as much in a wasteland as complete order. Complete order would mean no life could exist. Chaos on the other hand keeps things in motion. Now the question is, is the extreme of chaos a fade to black and that's it, or is it actually an Eschaton, leading to a new rise until it falls again. If so, the question would be is the result random, chaos, or is there a pattern to make, what looks chaotic, complex? However, I think the difference between property and privacy is easier. The limit of freedom is someone else's freedom. So if you pick a spot you want privacy, nobody should have the right to disturb you. But it's crazy you could rent out the space you occupied, just because. On the other hand, if you've got the roof and let's say it's raining and somebody's out there, you could feel entitled to help out, couldn't you?

Marduk - Accuser/Opposer, would be a great song for the Black Fire segment. It's a monstrously good, slow, Black Metal song from one of the legendary bands of the genre.

This song was the anthem of my early teen years haha. So nice seeing someone listening to it for the first time ever. I still recommend you to react to Thy Art Is Murder - Puppet Master Upon A Burning Body - The Outcast Whitechapel - 'Diggs Road' & 'Section 8' or 'I, Dementia' Emmure - Natural Born Killer

Ownership isn't an epistemological thing, it's pragmatic. It's something that has evolved within us because it's been advantageous to us in the animal kingdom

The reason you can own private property is because you live in a country governed by laws. You don't have to fight for your land literally anymore. The large tribe you can call society has agreed that protecting your property is important.
