Doing a great job mate. Puzzled by the comments re delayed footage, that's the case with pretty much each channel I watch, especially the build/project channels. Takes time to make the videos particularly if they are to be of high quality such as yours. What's the big deal with that anyway? Whingers gonna whinge I guess.

Ross, I reckoned you had enough room in the compartment. My concern is the min/max on the line drawings which in effect creates not having enough room, especially height. Weird. I think turning the muffler horizontal might work. I am eager to see your solution. Surely you have it worked out very well. I hurt all over when viewing the sequence with the torture board. Ross put a transfer pump in instead of doubling up the fill neck had a hymer motorhome I fitted a second tank for diesel opposite side used transfer pump worked a charm and gave the old girl over 1200 mile range mind you needed a bank loan to fill her up lol 😄😄

With inlets on both sides and a transfer pump you can always get to the correct side (starboard or port doesn’t matter) to the filling station, you can fill both tanks from the same side no matter what side that is.

Well Zak and Ellen will be enjoying 7 degrees here in Tassie at the moment if they came to Hobart to live. Also the cleanest air in the world! Have no problem with delayed publication of your posts. If no-one mentions a date you are in the now for me. Love your content and not that I have ever done any fibreglass work like you do but I did work for a mate for a couple of years about 25 years ago so I can at least empathise with many of your trials and tribulations. I genuinely don't understand why you haven't picked up hundreds of thousands of subs. Your channel is entertaining, informative and at times funny. You and your wife and family seem a great group of people. One little word of advice, please stay healthy as I had a condition that requires treatment every month so I can't really travel and especially go overseas (and I don't mean 'mainland' smarty pants!). It is the most critical asset you can have.

Howdy! I realize this video is about 2 months behind reality, and you've probably already solved the issue, but I was thinking, what if you could have a 75mm stainless fitting made that would turn 90 degrees towards the crash bulkhead, then on the other side turn 90 degrees down to your other muffler? That way, you would have relatively straight runs from the muffler in the steering compartment to the fitting, then from the fitting down to the muffler in the engine compartment. Just a thought.

One filler hole on each side to go into the tank on that side and a good transfer pump to move fuel back and forth. Might save plumbing and it will allow you to rebalance the load if you ever lose an engine and need to run with only one.

I know you have already figured out a solution, but I have found that the stainless steel brackets for mounting fire extinguishers works well for mounting pieces like your muffler. Nice bit of cosmetic surgery on your bow. Looking fantastic!

I agree Ross can't believe something as good as that exhaust only comes with cheap cable ties for mounting, that's ridiculous, if you ask me. I'd make some stainless straps as well that will be much more durable and won't look so cheaply installed.

I'm surprised you don't use a straight line pneumatic sander, at least for the 'roughing in' bits. I used one for years while doing auto body repairs and it did an excellent job without wearing out my hands and arms...Not sure if the modern ones are speed controlled, but we used a small, plug-in air flow valve regulator to slow down oscillation when it came to the 320 grit finish work... I remember the fuel delivery guy filling our tank at home, the system had a whistle in the vent that stopped when the fuel level rose up to it, letting him know when to stop filling the tank... If you elongate the hole for the exhaust hose into an ellipse, you can greatly reduce the curve on the hose. It will lay flatter and improve the flow of water and fumes while putting less stress on the hose. High Temperature RTV Silicone Sealant will close up the gaps and prevent abrasion...

Ross, With the dual outlets, couldn't you also add a smaller pair of hoses on each tank to allow air/fumes to vent out of tank thru the alternate inlet ? Or is that what you referred to as a splash stopper ? Excited to see your powerplant fired up for 1st time ! That must have felt good too !

Hope you have thought out a back up solution if your Autopilot fails. Believe me. Critical Killer failures are. Freezer/refrigetation, Water Maker, Autopilot and Electricity both 12v DC and 240v AC. I agree that plastic strapping is no replacement for a metal strapping (with a cushion between it and the muffler (again, vibration)). Have a great week!.. For your tanjs have a pump so you can tranfer fuel from one to the other.It allows you to clean the fuel if one tank gets dirty fuel.

mounting the components with straps and clips instead of a stainless bracket will avoid some vibration noise transferring to the hull, making for a quieter installation, You can also add damping pads between the hull and bracket, etc.

Ross could you not make yourself a hose ID stainless steel bulk head fitting to go through the bulkhead and just connect your hoses to each side. The boat deserves better than just a hose going through with sikaflex trying to seal it . That way the outlet on one side of the bulkhead could be a 90* and your hose could go straight down to your muffler and would keep all the radius tight and clean and not as congested.

Ross, a silly question for you, why do all the exhaust empty out on the out broad side of the Cats? Why not in inboard side back by where the dingy would go? I have always wonder why but never asked.

Hi Ross, is there a reason for not putting the gooseneck, inlet through the bulkhead directly and then making the sweep to the pot in the engine room? Then no hose in the watertight area , other than the outlet to hull fitting few inches as a joiner. After Parley's deck fail on spinnaker is the loss of the flange on your bows going to be weaker now? With your standards of glassing I guess not ..but.. a thick flange joint seems stronger than a few layers of extra glass to give a smooth side.

Rossoc I know it to late but what would happen if you losing the grey middle plastic clamp? It may be able to turn the top or Bottom. That is why there a Clamp there.

Hi would it not be a better idea to make a stainless steel through bulk head fitting and attach your rubber exaust pipe either side. Vibration is going to wear a hole in the rubber going through the bulk head. Just a thought !! .

Fiberglassing a pc. of 75mm fiberglas tube through the hull at an angle facing aft would solve much of your problem. Also the stainless outlet fitting going out at 90 degrees to the side of the hull will have a tendency siphon water into the exhaust. A tube fiberglassed through the hull is the standard setup on thousands of production boats, cheaper, easier and no corrosion.

I think the builders of my 1985 boat could have used your advice. The exhaust for the starboard engine runs right across the top of my batteries making it almost impossible to check and top up the original batteries!!

That is a very unusual place for the exhaust to run.I guess they tried to pack everything into a small Space.I am trying to employ foresight into every part of the build, I am seriously paranoid about access and easy maintenance .Rossco

While considering 2 fuel filler inlets on each side, did you rule out a two-way fuel transfer/polishing system instead? Also, wondering why you don't install the entire exhaust system inside the engine compartment and out of the sugar scoop?

No problem there, Fuel Inlet is safe up under coaming and is diesel in any case.

Sure you are already past this stage, but something like a 100mm shaft rotary seal should work in rubber. They’re not expensive $5 or so

Why two fuel inlets, u only need one. Fit your one inlet then your fuel catcher thing then have a 2 to 1 or 1 to 2 with a valve to divert flow done.
