I wanna bless God for what he's doing in my life and what he's about to do through my life hallelujah. This morning as I came out the shower and went into my room I saw something and I spoke about it and then I started to reason in my head what I would've liked to do but i chose to talk with God about it and in talking to him about it God give me this song. This is in 3/4. I heard it in 4/4 and it was faster. Not the Sister Act version, but it was faster and sang in the Stamps Baxter style but it had lyrics that were probably these.

Right. This is the standard version found in hymnals like Methodist. There is a jazzed up version. ( hope this didn’t “tick you off!”)

@@SZABOMUSIC Haha. The username is a play on words because I have Tourette's, which is a disorder that makes you do tics, and also I'm a piano player. I grew up as Pentecostal as a kid, and we had what is coloquially known as the "red back hymnal". If you're not sure what I'm talking about, look up the Gaithers doing this song. The lyrics are the same as your version, but it was faster, and there were some very cool harmony parts, which is one of the halmarks of Stamps Baxter singing. Our church didn't have people who could sing like that, but we did the best we could. Needless to say, the first time I was at a church and actually heard the arrangement you played I was quite lost, especially since I'm blind and can't read the hymnal. I'm glad I wasn't the one playing, because I might have thought they wanted the Sister Act version or else the Stamps Baxter version. I genuinely didn't know the 3/4 version was even a thing, and now I'll probably be paranoid if I ever have to play it in church because I play strictly by ear and I will have no idea which one they want to do.

@@SZABOMUSIC I heard a very basic version of the Stamps Baxter version from my church since I was a baby. I heard the Statler Brothers do a cover based on the Edwin Hawkins version when I was about twelve, and my grandma and I both flipped out over it and started liking that one better, and thats what I'd play it based on. Then as an adult I heard a Southern gospel quartet do it with the actual harmony parts, and now I love to play it like that. When you looked up the version I described, was it the Gaithers, or was it done by the Stamps Baxter school of music? I ask because I just now found a version today that they have recorded, and the tune was completely different. The way I'm used to hearing it has basically the same tune as you played, except the time signature is 4/4 and there are harmony parts where each part sings different lyrics.
