This game is great, but whats even better is the Developer behind it. It's only a single guy, called Micheal, who is super interactive with the community. During the pre-release phase, he released monthly updates along with updates on what he had been working on. He shares he's plans on the direction of the game, and also takes feedback from the community. Truly one of the top developers I've ever seen, and I hope he gets to continue to work on this project!

They said they are going to make all of that automatic. Basically, you will have a module that will allow you to auto dock, auto turn on your ship, and maybe a few other things. But this module can break. Also the dev said something about if you are going stupid fast, the auto docking it's going to help.
@drink158 жыл бұрын
That would take the fun away and make this game like every other space game.
@TheAIKnowledgeHub8 жыл бұрын
drink15 Not really. Even if the system is there, you don't have to use it. Also, there is going to be things like others shooting at you, and a few things like that. It would be about near impossible to do what he did in this video while you're being shot at. The other thing is, it makes the game more realistic, and open to more players. Even more so, to those who only have 15 min to kill, and don't want to spend half the time just turning on the ship. What was said about the auto dock is, it's going to be much slower than you doing it. Also, you basically have to line everything up to a point. Giving you OK the auto docking, the system sees you gotten so close and are somewhat already align. (Basically it's going to take out the .02 one way or another saying you're not align..

Your docking attempt reminds me of watching novice ROV Pilots attempting to mate a hydraulic Hot Stab to a receptacle on a tool port. They usually come in too fast, are not managing tether, using too much control inputs. As the supervisor I would leave the control van and watch from another location and let them try and succeed or not until too much time was taken. The secret was to do it as slowly as possible and not rush. This is an instance when slower was actually faster. Really enjoy your videos. Also like how I keep learning new stuff, even for a 65 year old learning new stuff is fun. Keep it up.

I think the reason why it did not grab the docking port automatically is because you should have primed the emergency clamp. Since usually you would have to go through getting clearence, and then the ship and station would know when to grab each other, but you just wanted to get in and grab it without furhter ado, so setting up the emergency clamp would have grabbed it automatically I think. However there is no button for that in the cockpit and it is only available via keybind at the moment

That's some complex startup procedures huh. Guess someone has been looking at Aircraft handling. That's on par with large aircraft too, because I know from experience that a single-engine general aviation aircraft, while still having a substantial pre-flight checklist isn't quite on that level of complexity. XD And most of it is instrument checks to make sure things are working as intended. The core startup procedure is Fuel tank selector to 'both' ignition to turn avionics on avionics switch on Fuel pump on. Choke on (if it's a cold startup) both magnetos on (electronic ignition technically, but the practical implications are similar) Check instruments turn on beacon light check area start engine. check engine gauges for expected behaviour From there you can start taxiing, but you still have run-up checks to perform, and a bunch of other little things. Aircraft are complicated. XD

Open it with your favorite text editor. Scroll to the Flight3 section : it's the ring. The line "StartROT = {x = 0.0, y = 0.0, z = 1.3}," set the rotation of the ring (in degree/s), modify this to your favorite speed, replace SM1_RESCUE in the file by SM3_RESCUE_HARD, change the UIName and the UIDesc to something more fitting, and it should be all

@Demongornot8 жыл бұрын
Exactly, 2 and a half actually to go from cold and dark to 2 engines running, after that you need to wait for the computer to turn on, INS alignment, weapons setup and other, some may be done in flight, giving you a 5 minutes required time to start taxing, but a complete clean start from the ground in non scramble situation it is around 10 minutes. Imagine if Rogue System had star tracker and inertial navigation system alignment, gyro calibration and telemetry acquisition waiting, it will be really long to start up the ship, but apparently those system in the future have get faster :D
@urishima8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, all of what you see here is basically the powerplant and the engines of the ship being fired up, and then you are done. The 'software' side of the vehicle is completely neglected. Though it should be remembered that the A-10 is an OLD machine, so that is probably part of the reason why she needs so much time to get up and running. The on-board computers and the software they are running aren't the latest and greatest, even after many upgrades and retrofits.
@Slovflyer8 жыл бұрын
+urishima that's not to say the missing bits in RogSys won't be implemented in at a later point. Michael (dev) WAS a military aircraft maintenance crew for almost a decade. His approach to the game is very much in steps, i.e. add a system with preliminary functions, then come back and refine it with further updates and functional adjustments. Meaning, all the stuff you mentioned that is missing right now may simply be handled due to it being a much more advanced ship (e.g. it's already got individual system computers starting up when you switch them on, for manual launching as current) and don't need further, deeper "computer startups," and/or he will add more systems to manage, including a master computer that will also possibly automate the startup for you. More than likely, yes it is coming.
@Demongornot8 жыл бұрын
Actually this is almost the same with the real Space Shuttle for example, most things were already pre setup while the crew climb in and they don't had to start up any computer, but they had to load special software, or actually sequences (part of the same software to stay technically correct), but except entering OPS 101 EXEC or OPS 102 EXEC they don't do much on the computer before the launch, and with more advanced spacecraft it might become automated, computer might start and auto initialise themselves when power is turn on, and for capsule like future Orion, SpaceX Dragon 2 or RSC Energia they are anyway independent from the rocket at launch so they are not comparable. The A10C variant is way more modern than the A10A and all its computer system have been redone, it is actually the main purpose of that, making it modernised on all system for weapons (including smart/guided weapons like GBU or JDAM) electronic warfare (ECM) and other including MFCD and other computer upgrades... They have started their upgrade back in 2005 which is not that old, even the F22 Raptor is older. The A10A don't have a CDU, I guess that except some older almost analog navigation system use as backup, no computer system are the same. And well in a non scramble situation, some aircraft like the F-16 need a long time to do ISN alignment, up to 8-10 minutes, even for modern block apparently it can goes up to 4 minutes depending on the flight plan but I'm not sure.

Hey Scott, so since Kerbal Space Program updated to be on 64 bit, I have a question, my processors kind of old, and was unoptimized for the game, being a 4 core FX-4100, but since the game is 64 bit now, and I've got a 64bit edition of windows 7 should the game run smoother on my PC?
@Archgeek08 жыл бұрын
Probably, but possibly not why you think. The 64b architecture just lets it address more RAM than the old 4 gig limit. If you've got more, that's better for the game not crashing if you have a lot of ships or mods, or ships with mods. However, it's not why the game will run smoother. It'll run smoother because PhysX finally runs in a threaded mode, which means multiple vessels will get their own threads, which Windows will assign cores, instead of everything running on just one. There is a slight delay at staging events where the new vessels formed get threads assigned and those threads get told what core to use, but overall it'll be smoother. The other big reason it'll run a bit smoother, even for single ships, is because they've pulled some serious optimization shenanigans, making certain noisy bits of simulation less talkative and stuff like that. You can trust me on this for two reasons. One, I'm a computer engineer and learned these nuts and bolts in college, and two, I play on an eight-year old box with 4 gigs of RAM total and a core2 Duo proc, which has but two cores. I generally get slowdown when I've got far too many parts, or a memory leak is getting things close to my system RAM ceiling and Windows is shoving my browser and a few other things on the swap file to avoid falling on its face.

I like the games that have all the switches that work... but it's just slightly TOO much. I would like to see one that had like... half of this.

I know what you mean. it was pretty intimidating at first having not played a detailed sim in a decade. However once you get used to ut, you realize EVERY thing you saw there has a purpose and a reason to be there. It's understandable if that's not your thing, it is a niche simulator/game.

"Rouge angles of satin" have no relation with demons, other than demons presumably liking the color red.
