Gordon is a legend. I'm totally sold...just have to sort out a minor detail and rob my entire village. I wish GMA started a higher-volume single model sports car based on the same philosophy. This thing is so elegant in every detail and it just has barely a dozen buttons in it. That's the kind of car I strive to build every time I start a project. Bring it back to its essence. I was blown away at the torque curve...Looking forward to seeing every little detail up close on the T50 and this in terms of suspension and aerodynamics, mounting, hinges...every little thing.

What's stopping him from doing this is his perfectionist outlook. He always wants the best materials possible for his cars, so R&D will never be cheap, which will inevitably raise the price. Not only that, going into mass production means the introduction of quality control issues, which I'm sure the man is extremely adamant about minimizing as much as possible, if not eliminating it completely.

Murray's other innovations as a freelance engineer/designer as well (e.g. iStream and the consulting for the rebirth of TVR) also stand on their own merit. You can choose sides between two men who were both involved in an incredibly successful project, but that doesn't negate the separate work that Murray has done that more than stand on their own merit.

Gordon Murray is the Jesus Christ for petrolheads in the wake of highly controversial push for battery powered electric cars, eco-centric economy that has little to do with climate preservation.

Henry, your humble but at the same time childish enthousiasme combined with proper knowledge is a relief compared to shouting influencers and bloggers. A pure approach that matches this pure piece of engineering of Mr Murrays team.

Brilliant interview Henry. Very informative and quietly entertaining also without hype or bullshit. Could have listened for hours 😊👍

I know this is sacrilege, but stylistically (as opposed to performance) I always found the F1 a bit bland. I get the same vibe from this. It looks to me like the sort of design these small, one man band, supercars that come along from time to time and promise much but deliver little. I'm sure this will deliver A LOT, but the looks are very generic and uninspired (no doubt a whizz in the wind tunnel though)

I agree. Both T.50 and T.33 just aren’t very good looking.

this isn't sacrilege, don't worry, you are allowed to have an opinion. But i may tell you man, i didn't have any feeling in particular for certain cars until i saw them in person. There are certain designs that arent that much angular and photography wise, they don't show its design qualities. In person you may few completely different. All of those designer language jargon about proportions, they aren't exactly bollocks. I was getting the same vibe until they shot the bonnet at 11:00. That shot shows a little more of its minimalistic and elegant lines, i suspect this may be the among the best car designs ever made. It really gives this 60's racers vibe but its a matter of taste.

@@ListingViews For me it's not that they aren't good looking, it's that they just look "Generic". I know Gordon is (rightly) world renown and admired, but these just lack a bit of pizzazz. Maybe I just want more rockets and spiked wheels on my multi million pound cars!
@Plasticjesus5043 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really is not that good looking lol. I know that is subjective, but its neither curvy or aggressive. It is forgettable. The components and driving experience must be other worldly but hopefully the driving expierience is worth the 1.3 million dollars.

Amen to that. When they teased the release, I said I hope it’s not gonna be akin to a lotus styling and sure enough in my mind it doesn’t seem like an amazing design, take a pagani or pininfarina’s new car and they look like a well thought out complete design

The only car journalist I'm ever really interested in watching drive an F1 or talk with Gordon. The perspective is unmatched, and I think Gordon knows it.

Strongly disagree - but design is allways an emotional and subjective thing … 🙂

The best videos are the ones when you interview Gordon or Andreas Preuninger. This one was no exception. So cool hearing the story behind all of those great details. The car looks absolutely stunning by the way.

Is there any other 11krpm revving V12 supercar with a manual transmission to compare it to?
@ivanpuskaric68513 жыл бұрын
not really as there is nothing like it...it comes from a designer of, many agree, the best car ever made(F1), it is limited to 100 units only, and the value will only go up with years to come
@shogun22153 жыл бұрын
@@Carfection True, but to use a comparison that Henry used in the Mustang video not too long ago, there are plenty of cars with much more power than this for the same or less money. You could buy a Veyron, P1, 918 or a Senna for this price.

@@Carfection Now that we know GMA will always make only 100 of each, well, I hope the super tiny T25 or some derivative of it makes production. You guys should cover that prototype and the Ox Truck. Magnificent engineering.

@@shogun2215 and none of those cars would have anything approaching the driving experience of T.33. Sportscars and driving are far more than numbers from a spreadsheet or acceleration tests.

So great to see these interviews with Gordon Murray. The previous interviews with Horacio Pagani and Christian von Koenigsegg. Their passion and drive to bring their ideas to life. Can only imagine having the same access to Enzo Ferrari, Colin Chapman, Ferdinand Porsche, etc.
