I feel like the ARC-170 is under rated, in the 2003 Clone Wars it shot down Separatist droid fighters behind it because of the rear gunner, although we never saw it happen in ROTS. Also I compare it to a ww2 dive bomber because it had the ability to drop bombs, so it acts both as a fighter and a dive bomber. Yes it does have draw backs such as size, maneuverability, and the crew could be two instead of three, but I think the ARC-170 deserves more credit.

The heavy weapons load, poor maneuverability, and relatively large crew is reminiscent of dive and torpedo bombers, yeah. With the right missile loadouts, it probably would have excelled in that role of long-range capital-ship killer, too. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that a bunch of Republic planners looked at the design, saw a strike craft studded with laser cannons, and figured it would be perfectly fine as a main-line space superiority dogfighter, and the pilots in ROTS were doing their best despite idiotic orders.

@@tba113 That actually is the case! ARC-170 is literally called "Aggressive Reconnaissance Craft". It was in fact prototype snubfighter/escort/reconnaissance craft. It was meant to be used for long duration missions, not dogfight with small defensive crafts! It is pure case of misuse, not bad design. In my opinion ARC-170 is superior to Longprobe Y-Wing.

the the T-65 series represented a peak compromise between the Z-95 Head Hunter from pre-clone wars and the ARC-170 which was built as a bomber/attack fighter. The ARC-170 has more in common with a Y-wing but was more complex and expensive. Personal Head Cannon is the T-65 had the same hyper-drive ( R300-H) as the Y-wing which is why the two fighters were often paired with each other (however the X-wing mounted Drive sideways to save space) Personal head cannon for the Development follows that the ARC-170 (Incom company designation was T-39) was developed first and rushed into service for the Republic as a long range heavy attack fighter with its own hyerdrive making it independent of either starships or hyper-drive rings. the ARC-170 was cutting edge when it entered service but was mechanically complex and had high maintenance requirements and a very complex Hyperdrive. Koensayr Manufacturing developed its Y-wing series party as a low cost/low maintenance alternative for the Republic- while the company was known for manufacturing parts rather than fighters the major need for long range fighters meant that Koensayr was pressed into service. The most impressive aspect of the New BTL-B was its new Hyperdrive technology which was less maintenance intensive and more efficient than the model found in the ARC-170 Incom was impressed by the new tech and used the R300-H drives in their new XT-65 then in development. the New fighter was intended to be more agile and suitable for ship to ship combat and would have been sold to planetary militias or to Imperial long range patrols but with changes in Galactic policy Incom took their T-65A prototypes and joined the Rebellion (the T-65B being a modification to make the fighter more suitable for Rebel Use.)

For the Battle of Hogwarts: Death Eaters were far outnumbered, but many were experienced and without morals. Hogwarts and the Order of the Phoenix potentially had a sizeable gap in their forces depending on just how many Slytherins joined the battle on their side. Voldemort's arrogance denied him the kill confirm on Harry, which further blinded him to Neville having the only thing that could kill Nagini. Lastly, and this probably applies to the entire central conflict in all of Harry Potter: *Where is the rest of the goddamn wizarding community?* Like seriously, a bastion of wizardry falls under the control of a maniacal demigod, and you don't immediately form a coalition to absolutely fuck him up? I know politics and diplomacy isn't Rowling's strong suit, but _come on!_

Apparently the T65 X-Wing is one of the only Rebel Starfighters that carried the firepower to take out an AT AT as seen during the Battle of Scariff when the fighters of Blue Squadron took one out after they penetrated the planetary shield to help support ground forces.

As mentioned in another comment on one of your videos, It looks like a hybrid of the CF100 Canuck and the F/A-18 Hornet with no empennage (tail) but meant for space superiority. The wing looks like it's from the Hornet but turned backwards and no airfoils for atmospheric flights.

I’m so looking forward to this game. There needs to be two things either in the base game or DLC -The Battle of Yavin. Yes, it happens before the game takes place, but preexisting events have been apart of gameplay. Take the Operation Anchorage DLC from Fallout 3. -additional ships aside from the base 8. I want to fly a B-wing. Maybe a Clone Wars Expansion where the ARC-170, B-Wing (because the Y-Wing is already in the game, and the B-wing was in prototyping near the end of the Clone Wars), ETA-2 Interceptor, and LAAT-I gunship on the Republic side. The CIS Army commanding Vulture, Hyena Bombers, Tri-Fighter and the Belbullab-22 Starfighter (General Grevious’ ship)

I'm sure this has been said somewhere already but it was actually safe to eject in an X-Wing. The flight suits worn by Rebel pilots featured personal life support systems that could output a bubble of air around them similar to how the carriers functioned. Though this was only in legends so that could be inaccurate now

Iirc, in legends, the rebel/new republic flight suits had built in shields to provide a seal against vacuum. These shields were similar to what was used to seal up hanger bays. The downside to them was that they didn't hold in heat at all.

Probably did the shield thing in the books I read because if they'd made the helmets sealable, it would have made the movie characters look stupid in comparison. The book series is the "X-Wing" series if you're curious. That series made my imperial heart sympathetic to some of the rebels.

The Incom T-65 X-Wing is the fighter that killed the Death Star. Running on quad fusial engines, and an almost perfect balance of speed, maneuverability, and defensive shields makes this the fighter of choice for Rogue Squadron unless the mission profile disallows it. In addition to four laser cannons, the X-Wing is also equipped with a limited number of proton torpedoes. ~ General Rieekan(Rogue Squadron N64)

If we go by the X-Wing novels the pilots can safety eject in space. They have a forcefield that surrounds them although it doesn't do much for the cold, it does allow them to breath for a few hours and lets the S&R teams find them ... hopefully :)

TheRezro force fields fail, suits don’t run out of juice. It’s also a vicious lie that TIEs didn’t have the ability to pressurize their cockpits. Several sources have shown helmetless or suitless individuals piloting TIEs.

@@russellharrell2747 This is true. The TIE pilots wear the full suits because the smallest hit could depressurise their cockpit and kill them. Rebels don't have that issue due to shields on the X-Wings and their ejector seats and survival equipment.

I think it is an ejection module, meaning the life support cockpit itself blasts free with the canopy sealed. The ejection seat would be inside an atmosphere, but it does seem strange they have no pressurized helmets like the Y-Wing pilots had.....

As a former Imperial pilot, I was only concerned with X-Wings if they were making torpedo runs on my frigate or some other mission-critical ship. They were easy to kill in a dogfight.

the basic version of our letter X looks more loke a delta (greeek letter), so the if the X wing was called an Xwing in Basic, another letter would have been chisen as the equivalent to our latin letter X looks nothing like the iconic shape of the wings (seen on the blueprint)
