I used to love t.A.T.u as a teenager but now that I'm 29 and re-watching their videos, I love them even more. I now understand the poetic meaning in their videos and see the little hints and messages that they put out there. Whoever helped to compose their videos was working in an act of genius, that's for sure!

The truth is that I think they are average pop artists with occassional flashes of genius like this (which did actually happen to Lena, let's remember, and so, powerful and brave as it is and however much I love it, they HAD to tell this story to prove they were ANY kind of WRITING artists!). I believe that Lena is the noteworthy one, but they would both be a cheap trick in the post 90s Western world outside of the US Bible belt, very much 'those particularly visually titilated straight man/alpha lesbian(the more testosteroney human being)'s fan service! Fuck, what a well made video. This song is so underrated, together with the Russian version, which you should always count in, because the lyrics are mostly deeper than the englisch ones. The layout of the video, the double and triple meaning of the lyrics and the scenes, it's so beautiful! It's a critique for society in more than just a single way. It's a critique how we listen to media, how we like to believe in scandals more than in the real truth of the story and a critique about the whole system of justice or better said, judging people by looking at them from the outside or further distance. Both women can be seen in their underwear, one pregnant. Many people made a fuss over it, but there's a very deep meaning behind it. As long as the one is wearing her guard uniform and the other one the white robe, you will judge the guard as the justice bringer and the white robe wearer as the criminal, but as soon you see these two pretty women just like they are, im their underwear, without a uniform or a white robe, the feeling will change in an instant. The music video makes it super clear, how fast we are willed to believe in what we see and judge with oy knowing the true depht of the whole situation. While watching the video your own few is shoftet over and over again, till you see the pregnant woman in underwear, beautiful and sad.. nothing but a poor, pretty girl, hurt and destroyed.. suddenly the guard looks more and more threatening and the women that is getting shot, has become the victim in our mind, while before whe where absolutely able to judge her guilty, just because the other woman is pretty and wears a guard uniform, but in the end both of them are so mich more than what they look from the outside. The message is very clear and communicates a lot different things. Very good!

I think this is one of Tatu's best songs...I still cease to be shocked at the end of the video though! I wish Julia could have been happy and believed she was beautiful here... I find it a bit unsettling ( for want of a better word) at the end , when that phone rings, and Lena looks towards, but not at, the camera..scary. Shame they started out drawing the wrong attention, as they did some really good songs..and not just from their debut album. I would love to meet them, I just hope Julia is happy , and Lena too. I would have said could the get back together, with a new image?? .. but sadly, I believe Julia cannot sing the same, after thyroid cancer? Despite all the controversy, I hope they are both happy.

Им только стоило, на мой взгляд, чуть грамотнее распорядиться выбором синглов и сделать ставку на другие песни. Например, на "Running Blind" и "Fly on the Wall". В этом случае, возможно, альбом наделал бы больше шума...)

La mayoría interpreta que el personaje de Lena tiene una doble vida como prostituta y alto mando en el ejército, y representa la típica persona que juzga a los demás (hablando mal, criticando y esas cosas), siendo que su propia vida esconde algo tal vez aún más cuestionable, mientras que Yulia es juzgada por algo que la sociedad ve mal (en este caso, ser una adolescente embarazada o algo como eso) y el sonido del teléfono al final podría ser el karma, ya que descubren la doble vida de Lena y ella se da cuenta que será la siguiente en ser ejecutada.

У Волковой был необычный голос, вроде совсем ничего особенного, не сильный и не большой, даже наоборот слабенький. Но если в него вслушаться, то иногда он создаёт чёткое чувство физического притяжения, как зов из темноты, возникает непреодолимое желание пойти туда откуда он раздаётся. Хорошо ещё что нет координат эпицентра притяжения, а то бы ведь пошёл.. ) Внезапно понимаешь, что ты более живой чем знал о себе до этого. Что в тебе есть что-то скрытое и ждущее своего часа. Какие-то шаманские напевы и вызывание духов неизвестных вещей.. Это необыкновенное ощущение.. Мне нравится это. Но это затягивает, парализует ум и главное вовремя соскочить с темы, переключиться пока не утянуло в неизвестный тёмные пространства где кто-то ждёт рассвета.)

I think the music video is left to many interpretations. I think this video is a very strong metaphore for our narrow-minded and hypocritical society full of prejudices. In the movie Julia is portraying a pregnant woman living in a society with very strict moral rules, who gets imprisoned and sentenced to death, which could maybe be an analogy of people judging and despising single mothers who raise children on their own, without being in a relationship or married (no husband, boyfriend etc was seen in the video, so I suppose there was none, and thats maybe why she was killed). My theory is that Lena was really close to Julia (either her friend or lover) and got disappointed by her behaviour (especially if they had been together. Women usually don't get pregnant without a man involved, so maybe Julia cheated on her?), but still has feelings for her. But in her position of a police officer, she has to defend societies values and pull her duty. I think the video is very well done and leaves a strong message! But thats just my interpretation of it, maybe there are other theories too.. What do you think of the video?

to me this video is trying to represent the difference between someone in a position of power and someone thats considered a minority /who got caught doin the 'wrong' thing. so both of them r prostitutes, but the difference is that lena is either protected by cops or sth, or just knows really well the system so she doesnt get caught, but yulia didnt, so she got caught and thats why they punish her. at the end of the day they do the exact same thing, but since lena was more powerful, she was respected by those men and could still be the general. yulia didnt mean nothing. the fact that she was pregnant i think it was more like a shock factor
