the editing on this one is great, super clear on everything that happens, the little indicators and texts showing where the points are coming from and editors notes mega props to IamHan and Mat for the editing also fun stuff about mats tau list new crisis suits their weapons get MORE expensive if you are running duplicates/triplicates so by running tripple flamer on his crisis suits mat is actually technically making his list weaker as each suit would be much cheaper running a variety of weapon rather then the triple of 1, and those points (i think its up to something like 90 pts free'd up with this list) could have been used on more stuff without actually losing any firepower on the crisis suits themselves, you still have three guns just cheaper cos you didnt double up

Yea went against someone who plays drukri and I was allied with a guard player for a narrative campaign and the drukari player said I couldn’t use my cancels of the omnissah or doctrines because I was allied with gaird despite me fulling being allowed to attack the guard player due to the game but because it’s narrative we didn’t do that of course, the guy also wiped most my army turn one and won’t let me have the rest-roll canticle for my last data smith... done it anyway but decided I don’t like him

23:00 when you use a Tau Epire unit to shoot at another unit that has markerlights on it, you have to add the +1 to hit. It's not optional.

I played a game last Friday,brought my Khorne Army against the new T'au and....yeah, it was over after their first turn 1. The only fun part for me was I got my 1 wound left Daemon Prince into Melee with 3 units and not could kill it. Never thr less, those Railguns where disgustingly harsh.

I played a game as crons against tau myself a couple days ago. Tabled turn 3. That hammerhead railgun mortal wound strat is bonkers against warrior blobs (especially as technically it won't trigger reanimation protocols, but you have to be a bit of a douche to rule it like that).

Like someone else said below, the mortals from railguns ARE as a result of an attack, so you couldve reanimated them. Not all mortal wounds are dealt alike ;)

@@sk8erclone25 I was referring to the hammerhead railgun in which the strat states "Instead of making attacks with that weapon". It could be ruled that it's not an attack as it's a stratagem and therefore reanimation does not apply. So basically getting to auto kill 8 warriors for 1CP.

I noticed a few incorrect rules in your first tau turn, firstly, that second unit of pathfinders would not all be able to shoot, shooting through the terrain requires EACH MODEL to be touch, not just 1 model from the unit.

Hey Matt, next time take a Supreme Command Detachment for Shadowsun. It gives you CP back depending on what you have in your army, so, in your case, having a Batallion would've given you back 3CP. It's a way to get 3 Commanders if you wanted ;p

@@DiceCheck Not really. It's there so that you can take a Supreme Commander/Primarch in your list and not be penalised CP-wise (as it HAS to be your Warlord). It kinda works like having your Warlord in a Patrol or Batallion and he refunds the cost of that detachment. But it's okay dude, as you said, first time playing T'au. I haven't watched the full game yet, but don't forget Shadowsuncs buffs work at 12"...6" base, 3" coz of Sept and 3" coz of her Command drone. That's a huge support bubble.

Hm, no you're completely right. We could have sworn that if a model touches a terrain piece (i.e. within) the whole unit can shoot. However from what the rules say that I'm looking at its on a model by model basis. Dont know where we got that rule from, might be a hold over from a previous edition. Apologies about that, we'll keep it in mind next time.

Very entertaining game, despite the ridiculousness! I don't really know anything about Necron list making, but Matts list did not look very competitive. Just "Broadsides/Breachers go brrr", lol. Also found it funny that he took 2 units of Pathfinders then went all flamers on his crisis (and commander, lol..) Despite the first Tau turn being so obnoxious it was good fun. I really appreciated the editor's notes. Even if things aren't that impactful, just knowing you picked up on it helps prevent me malding over details :) Sk8ter was great and I have a new headcanon of Matt going "wahoo" whenever he's nervous.

Current Tau are the worst thing ever to play against as most necron, and god help you if you run Khorne. They just have too much range and deal too much damage too easily to those armies. I know a guy who flat out stated he will just FF against Tau since his army has no chance to get close before he gets ripped apart. That’s life 🤷

I have been saying something similar about the whole edition! As books come out, we need to constantly look at how things shift and shake things up! What is a good take all comers list might get floored by a new book and it's time to evaluate what remedies your army has in stock!

This isn't an RTS on a computer game, we can't expect people to re-purchase entire armies every edition, so there's only so much leeway that can be given for "Sorry 50% of your codex sucks now, hope you already collected the 50% that's good". They set out to make Necron silver tide more viable this edition and they succeeded, but in the process completely destroyed every other way of playing 'crons and that's not great.

This is just an instance of a new book catching things off guard when people are unsure of what's powerful. Matt literally had no idea how powerful these things would be. I picked up tau as my first army a month or so back(Played them in 5th for a few games). I joined a tournament after like 4 games played and placed 5th. I nearly tabled the necron player I played and he has played way longer than me lol. Crisis suits are amazing atm.

The invocation for actions on ethereal is redundant as the rule is built into the character. The invocation gives an additional unit the action/fire ability and as such not needed in 99% of any games/senarios.

well then we just cant have any real artillery can we, no earthshakers. just make people guess ranges n roll scatter for artillery again to make it harder to hit

This one was rough.Is nice to see Tau shine with their new codex but man it was a while since i saw Necrons get fisted that bad turn 1. Props to Sk8er for pushing through in face of the unspeakeble horror of the Greater Good. Respect
