eBay is your friend here, one box of crisis gives enough weapon options to pretty much have All 3 load outs. I've found primed and even painted squads on there for £25

Nice report ! Please remember that Crisis Fireknife Battlesuits, thanks to their Weapon Support System, can ignore modifiers to the Hit rool : Each time a model in this unit makes a ranged attack, you can ignore any or all modifiers to the Hit roll. And Shadowsun benefits from her own Aura of Rerolls of 1s :)

I’m semi new to Warhammer 40K I’m kind of a returning player after about 15 or 20 years give or take and have forgotten how to play. Why is it that games workshop only hasn’t space marines starter sets but nothing for this Tau Faction, I’d like to get back into this amazing game again but I’m not sure where to start if I were to pick the Tau Empire, they look absolutely badass their mech suits kinda remind me of Gundam.

Why have I never seen a lictor do anything of value? He always gets decimated or tied up in combat for 3 turns with a single space Marine unit.

In my very biased opinion: they suck. They're meant to be assassins, but cost a ton of point and don't have enough juice to kill the characters. As I see it they have good odds against infantry characters, but most of them have 4 or more toughness, so only a bit less than 4 hits actually become wounds, and with 4++ being basically omnipresent especially on characters less than 2 actually deal damage, and since most characters have more than 4 wounds, they can't kill it outright. It doesn't help that they have infiltrator, which works against lone operative because you would want to start closer to the enemy, which means the enemy gets to blow you off the board 9/10 times (since it's the start of the turn the enemy gets to use all its guns at max power, and you're usually the only target in range). To do good work to me they need 3 things: deep strike instead of infiltrator to start of the board and play the patience game, something an assassin should be able to do, anti-character 2+ as they're meant to kill characters, and maybe even devastatiing wounds. They could lose the Feeder Tendrils since if they don't kill it doesn't matter anyway. Maybe also losing fight first, since you should be very precise on your strikes, not just quick, and set up the charge at the right time.

If you put them in the open like that then of course they are going to get vaporised. Lictors need to start in reserves and rapid ingress / be deployed from reserves tactically to score secondaries / threat / kill characters. They need to be used skillfully

Lore-wise, the TAU economy is mindblowing. Look at the production rate of crisis suites, and then at the imperium, which has to salvage every Terminator armor, dreadnaught, etc., because they can't be produced anymore, and the numbers are constantly declining.

not true, the new redemptor dreads can be made, so is terminator plate since they made it to fit primaris, lore wise everything cawl has made can be produced

​@joshuamulhearn2212 which in itself is a pretty big violation of the lore. If not for Primarch levels of plot armor, Cawl would have been executed about six times over for tech heresy. Also they can't just make Primaris-sized Terminator plate, because the Imperium can't scratch-build ANY TERMINATOR PLATE. They very clearly haven't had that ability since the Heresy.

@@SarajevoKyototheyve always been able to make terminator plate lol. There are a select few forge worlds with the STC. And also, no he wouldn’t. New patterns of equipment were made all the time. The idea that the imperium cant innovate or upgrade is overblown from what it actually is. And Cawl also has permission from The Regent of the imperium for his work so 🤷🏼

Not every unit has deep strike or rapid ingress. But thats why you plan for it when facing an army who does, so you can punish them for it. Overwatch, fights first etc. or just play your units in a way that makes your opponent unable to deep strike close
