Δεν πήραμε την Βόρεια Ήπειρο λόγω της Αυστρο-Ουγγαρίας και της Ιταλίας που θέλανε να περιορίσουν την δύναμη της Ρωσίας, της Γαλλίας και της Βρετανίας στα Βαλκάνια. Επίσης ήθελαν να φύγουν οι Τούρκοι από την Κωνσταντινούπολη και να γίνει η πόλη ένα κρατίδιο που θα το κυβερνούσε το League of Nations (ο Βενιζέλος δεν την διεκδίκησε). Για το 1ο υπήρχαν κάποιες αμφιβολίες λόγω της εθνογραφίας και γεωγραφίας της περιοχής, άλλα τελικά έγινε ως "κτήση" που θα προσαρτησόταν με δημοψήφισμα (βλ. "Ζώνη Σμύρνης"). Όλα αυτά μπορείς να τα διαβάσεις στο άρθρο "Britain and Greater Greece 1917-1920" του Erik Goldstein (1989). Συμπέρασμα; Οι Βρετανοί ήταν ΠΟΛΥ φιλέλληνες στην πράξη και δεν δώσαν τίποτα στους Τούρκους όπως λες. Αυτά τα κάνανε οι "una faccia una razza" Ιταλοί και άλλες Ευρωπαικές χώρες που μας πρόδωσαν (π.χ. Γαλλία, βλ. Franklin-Bouillon Agreement). Επίσης φταίμε και οι ίδιοι λόγω των εσωτερικών διαμάχων που είχαμε, π.χ. τον Εθνικό Διχασμό. Η Βρετανία (και λιγότερο οι ΗΠΑ και η Τσαρική Ρωσία) ήταν ο μόνος πραγματικός σύμμαχος της Ελλάδας εκείνη την εποχή. Edit: Επίσης, οι Τούρκοι δεν έχουν απολύτως τίποτα να κάνουν με τους Ούννους. Epeiros, including its northern part, is Greek. It became even more Greek during the Eastern Roman millennium. The Albanians there are nothing more than an Ottoman byproduct.

The Analbanians have absolutely NO connection to the ancient Illyrians or to Epirus, the story created by Analbanian nationalists in the 20th century. We can most probably find their origin somewhere in the Caucasus.Some facts to consider: a)The Analbanians were never mentioned in Byzantine, (not even of the works by Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus), Arab, Armenian or any other texts before the 12th cent. b)Language: Analbanian is classified as an IE language only because no one has been able to classify it into any other group, and this is because no one has yet studied all the Caucasus languages. Analbanian might have IE sounding words, but its basic structure and syntax are more similar to Chechen and Udish than to any IE language. Their actual whole history was siding with the invaders, becoming their servants, and using that position to expand their territories forcefully. How do Analbanians explain the fact that MANY genetic studies have shown that Croats, Serbs, Slavo-Macedonians, and even Greeks have more in common with the Illyrians than Analbanians do, and that there isn’t much proof, if any, that Analbanians have any connection to the Illyrians at all? In fact, Analbanians don’t even seem to have any connection to the ancient Illyrian language at all, so why do they think that they are of Illyrian descent? There is no evidence that supports that claim. Analbania as we know it today was created in 1913. Before that Analbania was a part of Ottoman empire, organised as tribal federation with no strong national idea. Originally Analbanians were brought form Caucasus (Analbania province) and served as Ottoman light infantry and settled in today's Analbania. (To defend this claim we can look upon the historical documents that proves the presence of Greeks and Slavs such as the foundation of Skadar that was founded in 4th century BC by Illyrians, then taken by the Greeks and then by the Serbs. It was only after the Ottoman conquestthat Analbanians occupied those territories) After this introduction to the topic, I should answer your question more directly. Knowing that Analbania is relatively young nation, young country, then its not surprising for then to make up those kind of stories about their past based on thin evidence. If they say that they are Illyrians then that means that they have the claim on that land, that they are the old population of the region, which they are not. Soooo long story short they are not Illyrians, but for the sake of national identity and belonging to the balkan they made it up and nobody stopped them.
