This book pretty much summed up my life so far. I was born into an academic family. I was always the smartest on the block. After college, I quickly married someone from a much lower class for no other reason than "I just want to be married". I immigrated to the US and had kids. One day, I realized my life was not what I expected. I had a higher mission. I quitted my job and started on my own, separated from the marriage. After years of challenging myself, I finally lived to what I wanted to become. I couldn't be more happy today living by myself. Yes. I am a straight heterosexual.

What is the moral story we can learn from this book? I wouldn't come to the conclusion that having relationship with a person from different gender will lead to an undesirable ending. And I don't think the author had any intention to use the story to lead readers' minds to a moral conclusion. Its up to the readers to find their own. In my option, the author unintentionally presented a story to tell us, the readers, that "the pains of loneliness" is greater than "the pains of having a relationship with an untamed man". The girl in the book gave up her PHD study, and went into a role being loved by a man, later gave birth to her daughter. I am sure having a daughter companying her would be a great joy in her life.
