Is this really a Jr. High band? Wow, really awesome. The horns were rockin' it! But, my Dad always wrote great parts for brass. I thought the conductor's interpretation was really close to how Daddy conducted it. Great job!
@nakedfaves10 жыл бұрын
As I recall there are a total of 188 measures in this song. 81 of them are easy enough for even middle school players to learn well enough in 2 weeks if they are taken through all 81 measures by "sight reading" just as is. "OK, beginning..................GO", etc. etc. etc. If a really good conductor knew this he could get half the song learned well enough within 2 weeks that the students could then keep practicing those sections on their own at home for the next few weeks while the more difficult parts are learned in school. Also many of the individual parts in certain parts of the song are easy to memorize within one month. This way they don't have to worry about getting lost, or playing slower than is absolutely necessary.

Do you have to be such a pessimist? These are extremely hard rhythms, various time signature changes, and complex structures that even high school bands take plenty of time to learn. Don't tell me the average middle school could sight read this.

Brett Rogers we are doing this song at my middle school and we got the first two pages down in 3 days
@brettrogers76168 жыл бұрын
Teenage Nerd Seriously doubt you sound anywhere as good as this band. I played this piece back in middle school and I know we didn't. This band has clearly put hard work into this and I just don't understand why some people can't accept that.
@szapearl75088 жыл бұрын
Brett Rogers not once did say we sounded like them right now we are getting the rhythms down and our notes don't sound bad but we are making it better

their movement reflected the lyricism of the music. if your teacher tells you not to move, fine, but you may eventually discover how your lyricism suffers as a consequence.

Well, most college's band's are not true ensembles or an honor band. Many are recreational or just a hobby-sequel group. The FSU band is amazing.
