A great promotion of this app. You are totally right about the English learning in Taiwan. Most Taiwanese can read and write English in a certain level. But speaking is relatively weak when compared with reading and writing. I do believe that this app could solve this problem. Great introduction of this app. Enjoy your time with family in UK.

There are some great points in this video, but I really disagree with the idea that having a native speaker as a teacher is important. This idea is very common in Taiwan, even to the point that the work permit system for foreign language teachers is based on what passport you hold, rather than on your teaching ability. The idea that a teacher who is a native speaker will necessarily be better than a teacher who is a non-native speaker is simply wrong and has no basis in research. Of course, if you're teaching a language you should master it to a very high level, but there are plenty of people who are not native speakers but who have lived in an English-speaking country for many years and speak English as well as or better than many native speakers. Someone who, for example, moved to the US when they were 15 and has lived there for 30 years will most likely have a mastery of the English language and a knowledge of American culture that is indistinguishable from that of a native speaker. I've had this experience myself, as I lived in Norway for many years and taught both English (my native language) and Norwegian (which I learned in my late teens and early twenties) to young adult immigrants. I was teaching both languages to the same students in the same school, so I have a good basis for comparison. There are certainly advantages to being a native speaker, but there are also advantages to being a non-native speaker. Because I'd studied Norwegian grammar as an adult, I understood it better than my native Norwegian colleagues and was able to explain it more clearly. Native speakers often don't understand the grammar of their own language very well - they just know what sounds right or wrong. In fact, my Norwegian colleagues would sometimes come and ask me questions about Norwegian grammar! I had the same experience when I was doing my CELTA course. We were a mix of native and non-native speaking teachers and it was clear that the non-natives were *much* better at teaching grammar, whereas the native speakers were stronger in other areas. As a Scot living in Taiwan, the bias towards native speakers in teaching benefits me personally, but I really think it's both unfair and without any rational or evidential basis. Teachers should be judged based on their qualifications, ability, experience, and results, not their status as a native speaker or the holder of a particular passport.

I agree with your viewpoint about the bad translation of some movies and lyrics. That's why I started to learn English on my own and found a way to make a conversation with a native. Thanks for your suggestion, wish you'll get a great time in England. Waiting for your fabulous video for England culture!

I guess your advice is absolute great, but I wanna say the best way is you are really interesting in English and if you got any chance , you better go to the English speaking country, into the environment . Learning a foreign language is always not a easy thing, no matter where
