Important update, I tried 2 days and many many chat and phone call to TM to cancel my gateway, believe me, TM make it very difficult for you to cancel it, first they switch you over to support tech and they will have you do reset reboot, move gateway to a different location and half way through you get disconnected and you have to call and put on hold and talk with a different CS and start the whole process again and each one will give you different information. I get 10 to 20mbps download and when I switch back to my centurylink internet, I get upward of 800 mbps download and no more buffering. granted, TM gateway maybe a very good choice for someone that need 5G unlimited but it doesn't work for everyone. I get so frustrated talking to TM rep because they said I use 138GB already and there be no proration if I cancel now. I told them that's not what TM said when I sign up with 15 days worry free trail, I ask the TM CS to speak with their supervisor if they don't know how to handle it. believe me, is a waste of time and no result. STAY AWAY unless you have time to kill. it's nothing but headaches.

FYI if you are having trouble canceling T-Mobile go to one of their store locations! The store will call the number for you and they will hit the buttons to skip all the Robot BS and get to a real person who will immediately cancel your service once the person on the phone is aware that you are calling from a T-Moble store. It's the fastest way to cancel from what it seems looking at the comments.

I've had T-mobile internet foe over a year and it's been great. The only issue I had is that my gateway died. Tmo had a jew one at my door next day. But it's been more reliable and just as fast as Comcast. Glad I got it. UPDATE-UPDATE-THE OTHER DAY, MY INTERNET WAS WORKING GREAT. MY AVERAGE SPEED WAS BETWEEN 100 ,175MPS AND UPLOAD WAS BETWEEN 30 AND 50. THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN AVERAGING FOR OVER A YEAR. THEN THAT NIGHT WE NOTICE THE GATEWAY REALLY SLOW DOWN. MY SIGNAL IS THE SAME. THE GATEWAY WAS NOT MOVED NOR DID WE ADD ANY TYPE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICE NEAR THE UNITED. WHEN I CHECKED MY SPEEDS MY DIWNLIAD WAS UNDER 10 MPS AND UPLOAD WAS AROUND 2.ITS BEEN A LITTLE BETTER BUT NOT OVER 50MPS DOWN AND 30 UP. I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. I CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT. THE SIGNAL FROM THR GATEWAY TO T-MOBILE IS FINE, AND THERE ARE NO OTHER DEVICES USING MY GATEWAY. WHILE I'M STILL ABLE TO USE IT FULLY, I'LL KEEP MY EYE ON IT. I'D LIKE IT TO BE BACK TO WHAT IT WAS.

Thank you for sharing your pain! EVERY internet service provider in the US has the same putrid business plan! They ALL give you a nice package out of the box and then screw you big time when the "discounts" expire. Over the past 18 years I have had to change providers every 2 to 3 years because they double the cost if you are not willing to walk away. I currently have Spectrum in the St. Louis market and it has been great, but in December 2022 it will rise in cost by $75 when my discounts expire. I MUST leave them for at least 30 days to be able to renegotiate a "new customer" deal for another two years! I am now looking for a short term replacement to bridge that gap and was thinking T-Mobile may be the place to go along w/ DirectTV streaming or something else for a month that I can easily cancel too after 30+ days. This whole internet and streaming TV racket is so frustrating because ALL the players are in lock step promoting the same game! I'm concerned that T-Mobile is playing a dishonest bait & switch game where they provide a good product for a limited time to make you think they are great out of the box but are then are too stupid to figure out they reduce the product and hope 90% of the stupid humans don't figure out they are getting screwed! We are all so reliant on the internet today and it is VERY disappointing that there is NOT A SINGLE HONEST COMPANY out there that is providing that service!!!!

You're completely right, but the point of the video was to just explain my issues for the year I've had it, and the frustration it and been and ultimately ended in my cancelling. I'm not telling people to cancel, just the reasons why I did. Even with cable as an option I tell most people to buy this instead. You can use external antennas for both gateways. I never bothered though because any worthwhile one is a few hundred dollars and at that point I would be fixing T-Mobile's problem for them.

Talon, I feel your pain. Last October I signed up with TMHI because in testing it (at the time my third try) I finally got good speed. 500/100. I was elated as it was quicker and cheaper than Spectrum cable. Well the glow lasted a good long time. But more recently it has been a downward spiral, until I hit a wall and KZbin just froze on spinning dots. I speed tested and had 2/1 yup 2/1. I trouble \shot it and got some speed back but all my good speed was gone. N41 didn’t disappear but was now slower than poop. I eventually settled in to 100/30 but it was not reliable, KZbin kept choking so I knew I was going even slower. I called Spectrum and set up an install. I have gigabit which yields 940/40 in real world. It’s more but I have one discount that lasted a year and another stacked that lasts 2 years. Maybe Verizon will come to my area and or TM gets their poop together. I also dropped my TM cellphone but that was a mistake as Spectrum which is MVNO on Verizon sux eggs much worse than TM. I’ll probably stop cutting off my nose to spite my face and get TM back. I’m not saving any money on the cell side as Spectrum charges the same basically but with a data cap. To my knowledge I’ve cancelled TMHI but have to wait for a mailing label. I may have a fight on my hands if they pull crap like they did to you. Thanks for making me feel not alone. Joe

Yeah I had a hard time canceling too. I was connected to 5G but latency was still high. They were routing traffic to a server too far away or something.
@StephenBiz2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure it uses both signals combined, it’s called non stand alone & it binds the bands together for higher capacity the lte band is called the anchor band … my phone is the same way usually connects to band 4 & n41 for ultra capacity, which is what you want since usually t mobile has 100mhz of n41 + whatever the other band is in your area.
@talonlambrecht45892 жыл бұрын
You're generally right. This is called aggregation when multiple bands are used. Try apps like netmonster and you can see what bands are all being used. There is always a primary band and there can be multiple aggregate bands in use. Either way when TMHI came to my are athe firmware on the gateway only connected to 5G bands. It worked great, slightly slower speeds but latency was good enough. Now the gateway can connect to LTE bands, whether or not the service is using aggregate links the fact is that latency is terrible, but technically my speeds have increased since LTE could be used, and I just want to option to only use 5G if I want to.

After 2 years, they said they will raise only $10; but I doubt it and I don't care. It's funny we had problems all of a sudden for awhile..about a week. At first they wanted to send me a new gateway and I accepted but then noticed everyone in my area on a neighbor FB group was out so I called back and cancelled and told them I'll wait it out because it is their tower (customer service is a joke). A day and a half it was out completely. Then came back on for a day on Friday and then out Saturday and Sunday. Came back on Monday and then back out Tuesday through Wednesday. This whole time I would call and they said oh they're still working on the tower. I told them so basically I'm paying for unreliable service. They knocked $30 off my bill. Then I told them I have a college student which I do that is doing summer online courses and we need wifi because I had to take him twice to a friend's house to do his work. For some reason either they thought oh they need their wifi or fixed the tower because it's been consistently back to normal now. Oh they also did send me a new device but the UPS guy dropped it at my door and started to walk away and said oh wait ma'am this has been cancelled I have to send it back. I said good I didn't want it anyway. I also cancelled the new device because if you don't return the old one in 7 days you get charged almost $400 and with a special needs child and everything I do I'd prob forget. So yeah we're not gamers or influencers. We just stream a lot of movies and shows so the speeds are fine for us and being rural that's about the only option we have. I did hear at&t is finally putting fibers in our area but that's who we had before (high speed 'dsl' so it was definitely not high speed Mbps download like 4 not even joking) and they gave us so many issues that's a whole other story. Internet wifi seems to just suck all around period these days.

@@talonlambrecht4589 I understand the difference between 5G and 5 ghz. That's not what I'm saying. I've noticed when it's using LTE bands it will switch to the 2.4 GHz. And when it's using faster bands it's 5 GHz. If you force it to use 5ghz and usually sticks to the faster bands.

@@talonlambrecht4589 but I guess it obviously all depends on where you live.

It was junk, T-Mobile should have waited for a better roll out

They jumped the gun a bit too early. They've lost customers who now may never try it again.

@@talonlambrecht4589 This could give verizon an advantage because verizon hasn't rolled out as fast from what i noticed. Tmobile has their 5g internet in my nearby city (bessemer, al) but verizon doesn't.

Hmm works great for me. I stream KZbin TV on multiple devices in my house and play multiplayer online games with friends on PC and Xbox. I get latency spikes sometimes in games but for $50 a month I'm not complaining. No issues streaming live TV. I get anywhere from 50 Mbps to 300 Mbps but as long as I don't see the lag (and I don't) then I don't really care about the fluctuating speeds 🤷

That's the problem with sharing your experiences with a service like this. It's a nationwide service and every person in every location will have a different experience. Like you I had great speeds, but unlike you I had terrible latency. Some people have terrible speeds, and others can't connect at all. It's different everywhere.

@@talonlambrecht4589 I agree. My speed hasn't been a concern but I get latency jumps from time to time which is noticeable during online gaming. I'm willing to stick with them for a little while to see if it gets resolved. I'm saving $120 a month with T-Mobile vs Cox Cable. AT&T fiber is moving into my area so I might switch to them when it becomes available if T-Mobile doesn't fix the latency issue. It's not bad, just annoying at times.

How much do you expect for $50 per month ! People are expecting too much !!
@talonlambrecht45892 жыл бұрын
I don't think price should be a metric. It's one of the issues for the service. Nationwide the service is $50 no matter where you live but the quality of service will vary. I have seen people get extremely low latency and up to 800mbps but I have also seen people who have lost service for days, or consistently get higher than 50 Mbps. T-Mobile needs to come up with a good minimum benchmark that is promised.
