T-Mobile customers need to know there are THREE separate devices called Cellspots. The device shown here is one of them sometimes called the cel -fi, consisting of a Window unit and a coverage unit. It works reasonably well, as long as the coverage unit can be placed a substantial distance from the window unit. However, I found the boost somewhat spotty. One reason for that is that the outdoor signal is weak in my section of Columbus Oh on bands 4, 2 and on the new 12. This device receives signal, I'm not sure which bands {probably all three} and puts out a slightly stronger signal, usually on band 4 but sometimes on 2. If you have very weak coverage but have Home Internet of at least 2 Mbps {much higher perferred} your cellular data connection will be improved more dramatically with a different device called the 4G-LTE Cellspot, which is one device that plugs into a wired internet connection on a router or modem and sends out a STRONG LTE signal on T-Mobile's AWS Band 4. It registers -90 to -70 which is an unambiguous 5 bar signal. I find that the Cel FI coverage unit only gives out about a -105 to -90 which varies from 3 bars, to a weaker 5 bars when receiving a window signal of about -115 db which is 1 or trying to get 2 stinking bars.. Natively, I get outdoors about -110 db on band 2 and indoors , with no boosters, I get -115 on BAND 12 which is signal, but it performs just like a stronger signal performs AFTER I HAVE BEEN throttled for exceeding my data allotments {I still have simple choice} . The LTE Cellspot that plugs into your router works better than the two component CEL-FI device shown here. The third device, which I have never tried, is an actual wireless router. It provides no LTE at all but has customized qos software which is supposed to prioritize and enhance the WI-FI calling experience. I've never seen this device operate but it may be desirable if you would like to boost your WI-FI calling experience AND you can use a different wireless router for your home internet which doubles as an ASUS AC 1900 router.

Great idea since they need time to upgrade their towers and add more coverage, this could make people happy in the meantime since I know a lot of people complain about having T-Mobile and not having any service in their own homes.

Agreed, I get full bars now. Great service in my house now...

Just installed my booster as well. I'm also getting full 5 bars all the time. Put the window unit in 3rd floor and the other on the 1st floor. Works fantastic. Thank You T-Mobile. Vinny

You should do a speedtest.net before and after install.

Great Unit for my remote area I live in. Is there any software that needs to be setup? When I click on my cell mobile hotspot this unit comes up as dlink-189E and wants a password. Does this unit need to be setup on the cell as a hotspot with a password

I have a question my 2 tear contract ends now on the 25th of September and I wanted to know if they are any offers for phone upgrade or something because I remember that if you finished your 2 year contract with out switching phones you would get a free upgrade or something like that. So does this still exist or something similar??

You should probably move that away from an area you sit at a lot. The box states to install no less than 8 inches from a human.

It’s so you can plug it into your computer to adjust some setting by using the Cel-Fi Wave app available on cel-fi.com

What do you do if you have a small apartment? I have a 600sqft 1 bedroom condo. I can barely get much distance from the two boxes. I put them as far as I could, 1 in the window, and the other at the furthest side of my home. It fluctuates from 1 to 3, and it keeps going back to 1. I'm also mostly getting 1 bar. It'll go to 2 bars for a minute, then just go straight back to 1. What do I do? Please help me!

+Ompmovies Don't use this, you place is too small. Go get the LTE version, that acts as a mini tower in your house!
@Ompmovies8 жыл бұрын
No worries, just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they're shipping me the 4G LTE Mini Tower one like you said. I could connect directly to my modem and get 4G LTE speed. Oh and overnight shipping too!

Maxwell Adams See I live in an apartment building with four other condos. You can't just leave a $400 package at the doorstep of anyone's reach. Someone has to take it by hand. I even left a note on my mailbox with my number written on it. They didn't even bother calling. They just rang the doorbell a few times and left. I also got that stupid 'Sorry we missed you' slip for 3 days straight. I even noticed they came at different times. So it was literally impossible for me to ever catch them. I just can't wait till I get this damn thing and start upping the reception in my place. I was really considering switching services until I found out about this signal booster. Also came out a few weeks before I ordered it. Lucky break for me haha...
