T'Pol was reluctant because she didn't want to have to pick dog furs out of her body suit and clean it of doggy fart smell. If she was such a hotshot I'm security, did she really need his help? The two things I love the most about this part. 1) The subtle way in which T'Pol sidewalks to put herself between Archer and the screen. It's subtle, feminine, almost catlike, yet so clear. "I'm telling you something important here, and I'm having your attention now, human". I love those little character-defining details of her. 😂 2) The way Archer enjoys the last part. His expression yells "C'mon! Say it! You want me to go with you because you feel safer with me, and you've grown to trust me more than you trust your Vulcan collegues, now. Say it, Vulcan! I want to hear it!" It's almost a revenge for him. 😂

@@ntr10me I still put it above Voyager. Voyager was sooo boring after the first couple of seasons and the cast was just not into it either. Kate Mulgrew even admitted that in subsequent interviews after the series ended. She was also battling addiction for much of it's run and it impacted her frame of mind while doing many of the episodes. She feuded constantly with Jeri Ryan. Robert Beltran, Garret Wang, and Robert Picardo all hated their roles and how their characters were developed. Mulgrew once stated that "they just weren't into it after a while and were just going through the motions for much of the series run." The Voyager cast never developed the chemistry (partly to do with internal strife amongst the actors and actresses) like ENT did either despite ENT's cast being largely inexperienced early on and having the disadvantage of a burnt out executive writer and producer (Braga and Berman). All the mediocre episodes early on in seasons 1 and 2 is what sank ENT, although they weren't all bad. I will say though that the ending to Voyager was infinitely better than ENT's disastrous ending x2 in "These are the Voyages," which wasn't supposed to be the ending. Terra Prime was the intended series finale according to Manny Coto but he was overridden by Berman and Braga who wanted more of a "Star Trek finale" not an ENT finale. Was an utter disgrace and blew up everything he did in season 4 to try and save the series.

@@ntr10me "TOS" was always my favourite and I liked "TNG" too. "Enterprise" became my next favourite when I realised it wasn't part of "DS9". "Voyager" was ok and I like" SNW" better than "DS9", "Discovery" or "Picard". I don't hate the others though. Right now, I wish "Enterprise" could be renewed for 3 more seasons or as a movie (if Jolene Blalock and John Billingsley would prefer that choice more).

Not enough formality on Star Trek...we're very informal on submarines but in a situation like that after the Captain "see you in the morning" I think the officer would still say "aye sir". :)
@joeunderwood89732 жыл бұрын
The rigid military caste system is the exact opposite of Star Trek for good reason! Their informal attitude is no mistake, Gene Roddenberry wanted the TNG crew to be like a family where every one is in it together, even if you sometimes have to order your closest friends to knowingly sacrifice their lives (like Diana and "Geordi"), where people work not for money or [...] patriotism for one nation alone but for the sake of bettering ones self and the environment of those around you, this is the star trek model which was promoted by Gene Roddenberry. The rigid military caste system, by contrast, is not something to be idealized: instead of being "in it together" there is instead strict social separation, such that an officer will be punished for engaging in friendly chit-chat with enlisted personnel or NCOs, on or off duty (sounds a lot like shunning); instead of being like a band of brothers there is in its place a rigid caste value system, where officers are to be considered superior to enlisted personnel; instead of working to bettering your self and the world around you, you instead get a system where enlisted personnel are joining for financial security and are enticed to obey not through a sense of loyalty/duty/or for the greater good of self and others, but more often than not, a fear of court martial, and the permanent life time employment discrimination that is extra judiciously inflicted upon dishonorably discharged veterans by holier than thou Christian employers, inevitably leading to a slow lonely poverty stricken death. The rigid military caste system is the exact opposite of Star Trek for good reason!

@@joeunderwood8973 well I was enlisted but I have computer skills and grew up in Silicon Valley. My father made a lot of money as an engineer here; his name is on two patents. So I joined to serve my country. Plus the officers on a submarine, with the exception of the supply officer, must have a STEM degree, so they can be trained on the nuclear reactor. You have to have a year of calculus and a year of physics using calculus, so all those men could have high paying jobs if they wanted. We had an officer from MIT and an officer from Stanford on my first boat. I think it all depends on the unit. On submarines like I said we are very informal. Everyone knows everyone else, since there are only 120 people aboard: 20 officers and 100 enlisted. Unlike a surface ship where you may never see the Captain the whole time you are assigned to the ship, on a submarine you meet him as part of the on-boarding process. Now personally I didn't have much of a camaraderie experience because I found that my motivations and emotional landscape was different from most of those guys. I don't smoke or drink, didn't want to sleep with random women every weekend, etc. But overall there's a philosophy of "one team one fight" on a submarine. You can go back into the Engine Room and study the physics and engineering of the reactor, and in fact you are required to do so to become Qualified in Submarines (you have to learn all major ship systems). You can go to the Nav space where the Nav ETs navigate the boat, go in the missile control center, etc. Officers do eat in a different area but you can definitely talk to them. When the XO (2nd in command) was in Control (Control is like the bridge and CIC combined...we don't have a "bridge" when submerged, which is most of the time) and I was standing watch in there, we would sometimes talk about physics, since he had a degree in physics and I had what he considered to be a good layman's understanding; I read a lot of science books. So yeah I mean, some units are like Star Trek...I always felt like Enterprise feels more like a submarine than most other iterations of star trek...maybe other units are like you're talking about where like you would have to say "good afternoon sir" instead of "hey sir what's up". Sorry that it sounds like your experience kind of sucked in that regard...don't get me wrong I hated the military as a job too that's why I got out after only one 4 year tour lmao but my complaints were of a different nature lol. Anyway tyfys (sounds like you were in?). I was sonar tech, in the navy we have "rank/rate" mine was STS3(SS) = "sonar technician submarines 3rd class (qualified in submarines)" 3rd class = paygrade E-4. I served 1999-2003. :)

@@joeunderwood8973 I served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. The "caste system" is not nearly as rigid as present it here. Chit-chat is not the order of the day, but crossing the boundaries is not punishable either. When I spoke to officers informally, I always opened and closed the conversation with "Sir," but we might speak for several minutes without sweating the difference in rank - I was respectful, but I could bring any subject and if the officer didn't want to go there, they'd just say so. As for the treatment of the dishonorably discharged, you have to work hard to earn yourself that situation - you have no complaint coming. Perhaps you're referring to other nation's armed forces in which case I will concede the point; I only served in the U.S. military.
