As close to T Rex 'live! as it gets - Marc had a natural feel for the natural 'groove' that was on show and for a very average guitarist he sure made the magic happen.. the 'Bopping Elf' living up to his name!

MultiKanut He only used the capo on the 5th fret on Telegram Sam (he used it on the 4th for Ride a White Swan). I agree that you HAVE to use a capo on Telegram Sam in order the get the same tone feel, as it simply doesn't work on an open 'A'. However of more significance in achieving that tone is a combination of a that very special Les Paul into a Dallas Rangemaster, into a Colorsound Power Boost into an HH IC100 amp.

As far as I can make out Marc only ever used a capo on five T.Rex songs - Root Of Star (I), Summer Deep (III), Ride A White Swan (IV), Telegram Sam (V) and Electric Slim and the Factory Hen (IV) as oppose to Tyrannosaurus Rex where every other song uses a capo or is detuned half a step OR Do You Remember which is detuned and uses a capo - good fun trying to work Marc’s early work out 🤣🤣🤣 but - of course - it’s all in the ear of the beholder
