The international crime watchdog has removed Turkiye from its so-called "grey list" of countries requiring scrutiny over its financial affairs. Turkiye has been grey-listed since 2021, but the news comes as a boost to the country's economic turnaround plan. The announcement was made after a meeting between the Financial Action Task Force and Turkish Authorities to assess the country's progress in fighting financial crimes. Zuhal Mert Uzuner from Marmara University unpacks why the country was placed on the ‘grey list’ in the first place.
