Great project!!! and no need for a coverstitch machine, all done with the home machine. I like it!! Thank you for sharing
@MarinaBrumpton8 жыл бұрын
I don't own a coverstitch machine. Also I don't think its necessary. Twin needle and overlock give such similar results, I could never justify that extra expense unless I was sewing hundreds :)

Love this inspirational video (as I love all your video's), I've readapted clothes for years & been sewing since 1960's, I'm still learning new techniques, your instructions are brilliant ! I've made many Bardot type dresses & halterneck tops from Tshirts

When are you going to make videos then? :) I'd never thought of making a halterneck from a t-shirt?

Hey! Thank you very very much for this really helpful tutorial. I was searching very long for the perfect neckline tutorial and now I found it. Thanks a lot :)

There are so many ways to do this, but this seems to me , although not the easiest , the best way to get it right. When you really have experience you just stretch the jersey on and done. Hard to do when you are a beginner though :)

Love your t-shirt Marina! Great video :) Thank you - it's always interesting to see a neckline and armhole being done. Everyone does it differently but I do like your method a lot.

Its more tailored and I just don't seem to be able to do 'too simple'. I generally do what I like myself...

Well done lovely top. I"m a beginner and I"m making my first Tee Shirt. I was wondering it looked like you where doing straight stitching on stretchy fabric. Wont that break? I was told do fine zig zag or stretch stitch. On my machine stretch stitch is really annoying as its goes back and forwards as it stitches. I think it would be very hard to keep even tension using this stitch.
@MarinaBrumpton6 жыл бұрын
It depends what you are doing really. I tend to use a lot of straight stitch because fabric naturally stretches as you sew anyway. When I want to have a firm neckline I tend to use straight. But the stretch stitch, annoying as it may be is brilliant for waist and anywhere where stretch is vital. Slight zig-zag is also ok but not necessary on side seams for example. It also depends what fabric you are using. Spandex always needs stretch stitches as it is very stretchy. Cottons with little stretch don't need all that.
@mariav.48327 жыл бұрын
love your tip, tricks and your tshirt 🤗 No strecht or zig zag stitch required? thanx!

No not really, You can of course use them but I don't find it necessary here.

Could you please teach us how to sew with knit fabrics? It is difficult sew it when you dont have profesional machines. I want to learn to sew them without waves.
@jesshothersall6 жыл бұрын
Putting a walking foot on your sewing machine will help a lot. It transformed my knit sewing, for the first time the fabric stays where I put it.
