I think that "Deep shadow" might just represent the darkness of the games. The rest of the song praises the "nerver-ending light in the darkest night" which symbolizes hope and is the "reason why I don't wanna die" and how Katniss "flies away from the deep shadow riding through the fire". She escapes death.
