I cleared prelims with decent margin and also have history as my optional subject...i can assure new aspirants that dont try to beat upsc in this subject and rather than chasing 'only' history questions u should focus on other subjects like polity, economy, environment etc ( cutt off 200 nhi hai and exam mein only history ke apart bhi questions hote hai😂)...for history, one should read only basic sources along with previous year questions

I mean, even history GS students also do not refer to upinder Singh let alone Irfan Habib's book 😅 even history optional students don't refer to Irfan habib... Every year, there are few manageable questions in history from the NCERT and routine preparation sources. If you ignore them, but senior player with second or third attempt will not ignore them, so you are risking losing in competition.
