Are these hang gliders known as a delta wing and how long does it take after learning before you’d be proficient enough for one?

You can call them delta wings, this particular glider is a high performance weight shift hang glider. Please take lessons to learn. You will often start at a bunny hill practicing take offs, controlling the glider and learning to recognize the correct flare moment for landings. You will also go on tandem flights with your instructor, learning control, judging glide ratio and setting up for safe landings. You will then start solo flights being in radio contact with your instructor. He/she will likely be in the LZ area ready to give you instructions or corrections if needed during your landing set up. When you can assemble, check, launch, control and safely land your glider during mornings and late afternoons when the air is not too unstable, you will receive your Hang 2 rating and can start to build on your skills and experience. It is a magically wonderful sport that doesn't have to be expensive if you can be happy with 2nd hand equipment.
