T56 transmission repair & Reverse lockout modification

My journey to the 240SX LS1 resurrection. The transmission goes through all gears...except for reverse. I wasn't sure what was wrong until I opened it up and found the problem!
I also modify the reverse lockout solenoid so it requires less pressure to shift into reverse. I'll show you how I did it.
Fingers crossed all these items will work once the car starts and shifts fine. 🙏

Hi mate they gave 2 c clips because the other goes on the bottom in the opposite direction, make sure u put it in or the keys will fall out again

Excellent video. But I don't get the reverse lockout mod. Why would you want to make it easier to hit reverse when going for 5th? Just wait till the solenoid is getting 12v to put the car into reverse.

It's super stiff to put in reverse. I literally have to use both hands. This makes it less work.

The reverse lockout solenoid works by applying 12 volts to shift into reverse....0 volts means it locked out and you can speed shift without worrying about stuffing it into reverse. Seems much simpler to rig up a switch or use the brake light switch as a source..the synchro problems is a big fix thanks for the video.

Hi I thought you had to apply power to the lockout relay to allow you to select reverse, this does not seem to be the case in your video

FYI your supposed to use some silicone on the magnets to hold them in place.

You will still be fighting the solenoid to get reverse, unless power it still locks it. You need to unscrew the electrical body off for your spring mod to work.

Excellent ! video Hey I got a question I have a 2002 z28 and I bought a 2004-5 GT0 t56 cause i was misinformed..... :( however killer price ,low miles) can I have a F-body output shaft Installed ?and F-body shifter cup then all the math will be correct with stock driveshaft too differential ?

I believe you can swap the output shaft and body tail housing over.

I got trans with GTO yoke removed already so My Camaro SS Yoke ,Aluminum driveshaft just fit right in super tight nice fit anyways I'll tell where I'm at with my project Z28 ...Its done I got every single part needed and I installed T56 transmission bleed it with a nice remote bleeder real quick but I was getting some clacking noises from up front in tran in 1 -4 with or with out drive shaft anyways I never indicated bell housing or anything just bolted up best I could with trans Jack and straight as I could but now that I think about it My Input shaft I think has excessive play what would you do ? Just Have Tick Performance do Level 1 rebuild with new bearings ! for $2200 I think that's what I'm gonna go with then hopefully I'll have a winner Its just driving me crazy I hate sitting cars that run ........ cant wait too solve this and Get It done this Month !
