Well I for one am looking forward to buying this ship. It's about time there was something to match the soviet cruisers. For all those comparing this to Juneau class cruiser like the Atlanta and Flint (28- 95 mm at the belt), the Belfast (114 mm main belt) was up armoured after all but having her back broken by a mine. Whilst effectively being re built an up to date radar and I believe (don't quote me on this, but with depth charge racks on the back and launchers on the side, this ship did have sonar or hydro as WG call it) sonar were installed. Most British cruisers if not all, had the ability to make smoke. So Armour check, radar check, hydro (sonar) check, 6 x 533mm Torpedoes (feel lucky WG have robbed the Belfast of these).

Compare it to russian DDs; The stealth is the same, just like the some and the fires from the guns (or at least close) You trade having a citadel, speed and torps for radar and hydro. Am I saying that's a fair trade? No. I just played this thing, and goddamn do I feel dirty. Gunpower is wayy to high, smoking radar is broken and it' snot even that squishy compared to say a Pensacola... But it prints money and has smoke. So I was sold.

I do see a weakness in the close range performance. It has no torps and the turret traverse seems almost battleship-level. So close range engagements should be harder as in other cruisers. But that's only a big deal if you like those super-burst-ambush ships which will pop up behind an island and torp you from 2-3 km away.

nah not really. the kuter is much stronger than the current mogami, but is no where near what the 155 mogami use to be. 155 mogami use to have nearly 4km of stealth firing range starting at around 14km. Kutuzov has horrid concealment. 155 mogami had 3 more guns and better quality shells (higher dmg higher fire chance). Kuter on the hand gets better aa and smoke. This makes instead of being a one trick pony thats insanely strong at the trick, but a pretty well rounded support ship. I wouldn't call kuter as simply op.

And now the Mogami 155 has slow turrets, is fragile and has almost no stealth firing unless you take the stock hull which sucks. Mogami 203 has faster turning turrets (for a IJN ship) but poor ROF and lacks quite a lot of punch with her shells at T8. From an OP ship they made a really weak one. However it is still a fun ship as long as T8 9 10 BBs do not look at you.

I can easily see a weakness; battleships. If you see a Belfast in a BB, turn bow in and charge her. 152mm won't do shit against you (ignore the HE), go through his smoke and AP point blank range. No torps & 6" guns means you're completely helpless.

Schwarze Kapelle It's a cruiser (quite a bit bigger than DDs) and has a small 7sec smoke cloud (e.g very small radius). That's when you spam F7 and alert nearby allied cruisers to pop their radars or hydro-search.

Ringo Wunderlich The Gneisenau, Scharnhorst & Tirpitz are the Belfast's natural nightmare. High speeds which can catch the cruiser, strong armor to stop 6" shells and torpedoes to seal the deal up close. Later German BBs also have ~4km hydro-search, which negates the ability to hide in smoke as well.

To DD captains complaining about the Belfast...Their is a way to quickly deal damage AP shells. Yes ap shells. You can get citadels on this thing at quite the distance.... scored a 5 citadel hit on it with mahan at around 5km

Great video. I'm really not too concerned about all the OP hype. Like all ships, it's going to be who's driving that makes the day. You're a really good player. That being said, the largest part of the player base is below average to mediocre at best with some needing to wear their helmet before leaving the house. This ship is going to be a lot of fun for those with the ability to play her. Then there's that segment that are going to be deleted and disappointed the first couple of minutes into the game. That'll be my fun. I'm hoping most are on the red team.

I feel like right now it's needed in the game... with so many DD's and not many ships that are not of the same class that ca counter them. It'll make the DD captains actually fear something and might even promote teamwork? Like if the DD's know this game thing can wreck them, then there won't be as much of a cap rush at the beginning of games, so other classes can actually participate in point cap, not a cross map shooting match. I noticed you compared the Belfast to an Atlanta. The two actual ships were as different as night and day. The former displaced 10,000 tons, the latter not even 7,000. Even a Karlsruhe weighs 1,000 tons more than an Atlanta and IRL they were paper ships.

These "tools" are things that most cruisers should have to balance the shortcomings cruisers have compared to battleships and destroyers whose torps or guns can simply delete cruisers. There's a reason why most players play DDs and BBs at tier 9 and 10 while ships like New Orleans, and Baltimore are bottom of the rankings for damage.

Huh. A number of the Town and Crown Colony class CLs lost their X turret due to topweight issues but Belfast does not seem to have been one of them. That would be one way to nerf this ship. But it does not seem to be a historic one. It may just have to be put up with for a while. The best solution is to de-nerf the Cleveland and Mogami classes followed by splitting the US Cruiser line into CL and CA half's

fdsdh1 That's not the only thing they used Murican ships for. Majority of them went to defending convoys. But in the end the Royal Navy only helped starve the empire of its resources even faster. You'd think the Brits would have learned there lesson on spending after ww1 but then they went on to repeat the same mistakes. And had to sell both arms and legs to barely stay above the water line when ww2 ended. One of those great sales.. selling jet engines to the USSR on one condition that the USSR did not use them in military planes xP pretty much the same kinda deal they made with Japan when they had to sell stuff after ww1

Weaknesses = range, damage, gun arcs, shell arcs, fire chance. Just compare the 152mm Guns to those on the Russians, they're worse in basically every way. Frankly I think you are exagerating a lot of the abilities of this ship when compared to other cruisers, it's not the ship itself that is good, it's just the combination of the consumables. When I tried it out at Chatham, the officials seemed to think it was a bit too weak, (though I'm unsure if it's been changed since then compared to the version you are using now) And just think: What can it do if a Bismarck charges it down? it's hydro is outranged, and it doesn't have torpedos, speed or armor like the t7 myoko either for example. It may be *very* strong vs DDs, but with it's pathetic armor it's pretty much confined it to stealth/hiding in smoke, easily punishable if you don't have a good position with your team (not something you can rely on in random battles) Also nice video, please take this as a matter for discussion and not an insult as you sometimes seem to ;)

Battleships. Like all CL, its weakness is BBs. It's got stupidly strong armor for a CL which means overpenetrations will be rare, and you've also got a massive citadel. Any BB that decides to focus fire on you will absolutely fuck you.
