Dad introduced me to AOE2. He installed it secretly on his work computer and I would play it as a 6 year old haha. My sister and I used to play imaginary games inspired by the scenarios (our beanie babies often had to make a fort to hide from Genghis Khan...) I found out about the tournaments during the wololo comp earlier this year. Loving them, sooo excited for wololo 2!!

@@soko-ban nah man look closely. You can see the flag of the palisade wall right next to the baraks slightly hifden by it. Besides that the archers didn't go inside when he attackde the vilagers and they ran out of reach. There is no hole. Blue even walled the other side of the baracks next to the woods thinking there is the hole since he knew that its imposible he left a hile behind the barracks. Edit: nevermind. I checked early game and it does look like heleft a gab there. Still kinda weird tho.

11:00 there was no hole. However when Blue began to build the gate on the pallisade the villager was probably a little too far - the same thing happend to Blue around 13:53 - and this allowed the Red scout to slip in. 34:16 letting the cavalier's escape was Red's mistake. It wouldn't have saved him but it would've helped.

I think this is a recent thing but if you hold the "alt" key and click on the unit you want to murder, it will click pass the building foundation so you don't end up shooting the building.

Biggest diff between attack move is just the obvious, patrol goes back and forth, attack move goes and stays. Some people say attack move prioritizes buildings more, but I dunno, never noticed that.

Mangos work exceptionally well against skirmishers. Skirms dont deal much damage, have low health, and cannot exploit the minimum range of the Mango (except if you are Incas).

I would have thought Patrol : Moves between two points, attacking any enemy units that they encounter. Attack move : Moves to the point you clicked and stays there, attacking any enemy units they encounter.

That's the difference. Problem in DE, as with other new features it implemented, is that it's buggy. If you attack move and your units are close to the point you clicked, they'll randomly stop fighting and instead switch to a move command. Good way to lose your entire army for no reason.

@@TheNovicek I don't think that's the difference. If this is how attack move is supposed to work, then what is the difference between attack move and normally walking units on defensive stance? Here's how I think they work: Patrol: Allows you to set checkpoints through which units will constantly move. This means they never stop moving. They attack on sight unless set on passive stance. Attack move: Moves to a place once (not going back and forth), attacking anything on the way unless set on passive stance. Right click: Moves to a place once, ignoring enemy units and buildings. Attacks things after has completed the move order unless set to passive stance.

the difference is that if you set them on patrol and they don't find anything on the way or kill everything they meet, they will just walk back. with attack move they will stay at the destination

It was first used against the Spanish in 1588 when they tried and failed to invade England. It's a demo ship but more expensive and better. It would cost 80 wood and 50 gold, have 80 hp and 115 attack (normal) and 100 hp and 150 attack (elite).( Stats adjustable to balance it). His does that sound?

I have been going through (on HD) and beating the AI on every civ on hardest, tiny black forest map, standard resources, with Byzantines. The only way I could beat Khmer is to do a tower rush. With standard resources, I only have enough stone for one tower, so I built the tower, then built a mining camp on their stone, and mined as fast as I could, and used the same vils to add towers. If Khmer are allowed to advance at all, I'm finished. Blue here is nowhere near as threatening an opponent as the AI is.

How does ones elo calibrate in definitive edition? I've played 44 games with 48% wirate and im about 1150 elo. I wouldn't consider myself anything but a low elo legend....

If you win against players with a significantly higher ELO than you, your rating will increase by a lot. If you win against players with a lower ELO rating than you, it will increase very little. Even with a relatively low winrate, you can have a high ELO depending on the ELO of the opponents you won/lost against. Thus, it's possible to be several hundreds of points higher than you're actually supposed to, but as you play more games the ELO should trend towards your actual skill level.

Gotta say: DoW has one thing, that misses in AoE and it infuriates me: A command to tell units to NOT ATTACK BUILDINGS INSTEAD OF UNITS.

This function exists in AoE. If you place units close to a building they will automatically prioritise attacking enemy units. If you actually click the building they will ignore enemy units. If you accidentally told your units to attack a building you can use the "stop" command (defaults to "G" in DE) and they will prefer attacking units over buildings again. You can still patrol into enemy buildings, but I think that's actually a good thing. Players who pay less attention get punished for just patrolling their units across the map in the hopes of raiding or finding units.
