This was a FANTASTIC Age of Empires II 1v1 between two of my favorite players, MBL and Hera! This match not only has unique strats but incorporates many of the awesome units these civs have. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this one!

beautiful example of aoe2 counter unit balance. red starts with archers - blue counters with skirms & onagers - red adds cavaliers - blue adds camels - red adds berserks - blue counters with hand cannons - red adds skirms!

Satyaki Sil KOTD Finals was one big shot, for sure. But it looked bigger because liereyy after getting hit the first time, realized it was over and let the rest of his arbs just get shot for the LOLs before he called the gg. Biggest Onager shot was MBL vs Viper in Masters of Arena 3 and i remember one teamgame where Viper killed Maxes arbalest army that was almost twice the size of heras arb army this game

Cred to mbl for that vicious onager shot. With Hera pestering him for so long with those crossbows, he made a bunch of onagers, hid them on the hill and waited for the right moment. Beautiful! Not easy to pull off aganst an opponent with such good micro. Quit talkig of throws and such, this is the game played at the very best level, and that goes for both players.

I played AOE as a kid growing up, and was never good at it. I play it from time to time, but it doesn't catch me. Watching these pro guys is so entertaining tho. Very nice game

Occurs to me that one potential unit missing from AOE2 is Chariots. If they do add more civs, they should add chariots as unique units for a couple of appropriate civs. Very fast, multiple arrows/javelins in attack, but also expensive, slow to train and not good on hills.

Surprised Hera didn't get pikemen early in the game once the infantry upgrades were done for Beserks. Afterall, MBL had a lot of cav throughout the game and viking pikemen are stronger. Also, if you are having a 1 vs 1 treb war (1 treb each most of the time) to take down opposing castles and probably start a push that will win the game, the treb is vitally important and cav are taking it out constantly. Bring a few vils from your close woodline, build houses, even partially, in front and sides of the treb to force the cav around to the back and they won't survive the attack but your treb will. Simple stuff I would have done in my own games in years gone by and I was only 2k, these guys are top.

It's less random so less luck involved It's so open so the engagement will be faster and more strategy can happend there It's less predictable coz there's no Hotspot (like center in gold rush) No pond or river coz it's actually make it predictable too

Building camels over mamelukes as saracen is downright stupid. They cost almost as much however mamelukes have a range which allows them to kill any cav without taking losses, they're also strong vs any infantry, they kill siege very fast and they can deal with archers when played correctly. I know all these because I do them, and I also pair them with onagers.

They cost no gold and are easily replacable, so he forces an engage. Also archer arrows fire faster and maybe he lacked balistics for precision aiming ( meaning archers would dodge at max range due to micromanagement)

Its is special and tactic. Sending it back home to work would be more idle time and you wont keep it foward in case you need something else, building a random house there give you some vision and less important some pop, also the vill wont show iddle in your hotkeys either so you can focus in others vills.
